The rest of the day goes by quickly, somehow, and I'm happy about that.
"So, Happy birthday Tris, I see you finally got your mark." Christina says, laughing a little. I roll my eyes and the rest of the people laugh with me.
"So, what should we do to celebrate?" I ask my friends, and they look around as if they are thinking.
Shauna is the first to speak up. "We can go to the movies or..." she pauses, thinking again. And everyone is silent again.
"Zip lining?" Uriah yells, and I perk up. I see Four and Christina slouch down and I raise an eyebrow to them. They just shrug.
I tap my chin with my pointer finger, and smile. "Isn't the carnival at Navy Pier open again?" Everyone perks up at this. "I guess that's where we're going...let's go!"
I sprint down the empty school halls and race to my car, Four by my side, Uriah right behind me, and the rest of our gang WAY behind. Is three are the fastest, but I am faster. Girls can do anything.
"Faster Tris!" I whisper to myself and I pump my legs and beat them to the car. I turn around and half smile, the two boys out of breath, and the rest of them jogging or walking.
"I win!" I yell, smiling a bit. Uriah scoffs and pouts. Four and I laugh, waiting for the rest of them to catch up. "You have your car too right?" I say, looking to Four. He nods and opens my door.
"Thank you, kind sir." I say bowing. He rolls his eyes, and starts laughing. I hop into the car and Christina hops in to my right. Marlene and Uriah hop into the back of my car, and Will, Zeke, and Shauna hop into Four's car.
"Meet you there!" I say, waving to Four, and speeding off. I stop at a red light and put my aviators on my face. Four pulls up to my left, and I smile at him.
The light turns green and we race to Navy Pier, knowing that no cop is ever on this part of town, nobody ever comes this way. I mean, we are on the backroads after all.
I look to Christina who has a terrified look on her face, and I choke on a laugh and bite my lip as we turn into the parking lot and hurry to find a spot.
Four smirks at me as he opens my door and I hop out. "I won." He says proudly. I roll my eyes and walk toward the ticket booth. The gang follows behind me, and Uriah and I push each other out of the way so we can both pay, but being that I am only 94 pounds, I lose.
We all put our wristbands on and walk into the park. "Who's ready to ride some rides!" Uriah screams.
I just want a corndog.
