Six: Hostage

Ahsoka woke in a dimly lit room on the floor. She was sore all over and her stomach hurt. She had an aching spot on her head. 

 "Hello?" She said to the darkness. Someone laughed in response, and not kindly.

 "Master Plo?" Ahsoka asked, squinting and sitting up, holding an arm around her stomach. 

 "Nope."

 " Cody? " 

The laugh sounded again. "Guess again."

 Ahsoka gave up and huddled against the wall. "Who are you?"

 "I'll give you a hint: I ain't got no problem with killing Jedi."

 Cad Bane stepped into her field of vision, grinning with one corner of his mouth turned up.

She glared at him. "You shot me!"

 Bane laughed and touched his blaster holster. "Stun shot, but it did the job."

 "Hondo was in on it."

 "He was."

 Bane lunged forward and grabbed her wrist, yanking her toward him. He grabbed her chin with his other hand and looked at her face.

 "You'd be expensive, you know that? You're a Jedi, and the Separatists would pay for a Jedi in chains. Especially Kenobi's Padawan."

 "I'm not Kenobi's Padawan."

 " Whatever. "

He tugged her after him into another room, pressing buttons on his commlink. After a brief chat with a Separatist informant, Bane tossed her in a homemade cell and locked her in it.

Ahsoka was put in wrist cuffs, but she tried everything. She couldn't climb the walls. She couldn't break the door. She leaned back against the wall, giving up, until she was aware that Bane was watching her.

 "You don't like that cell, do you?" he asked, arms crossed.

 "Obviously not."

 Cad Bane laughed and walked away, leaving Ahsoka very despondent and hopeless.

Plo Koon walked back to the ship and was greeted with silence. He and the clones searched for Ahsoka, but she wasn't there. One of the clones who had stayed behind told Plo that Ahsoka had left an hour ago to see where he was.

 "That means that she is down there!" Plo said to Wolffe. "Back at the pirate's nest!"
