Four: Hiding

Ahsoka followed Cody outside the Temple and into a squat gray building nearby. It was incredibly loud this time of night, and Ahsoka could hear shouts and laughs and speeders whirring and forks clanking and the occasional bang that older speeders made when braking.

Cody grabbed her hand and pulled her inside. It wasn't anything to brag about. There were hundreds of bedmats laid out with a member of the 212th sleeping on all but a few. There was a stained bar over to one side with droids quietly preparing what would be the clones' next meal. Cody led her over to an empty mat and told her to lay down.

 "Uh, I can go back to my room," Ahsoka said. 

 "Why?" 

 "Because I don't want to sleep with you."

 "Not with me, little girl. Beside me. Besides, you can't go back inside if you're trying to hide. Sleep here."

Ahsoka gave up and laid down. Cody laid next to her and seemed to fall asleep immediately. He put one arm around her, then closed his eyes.

Ahsoka put her back to him and attempted to fall asleep. But every creak and every shout from outside sounded like Anakin, and she wondered if sleep would come.

It must have. Ahsoka woke up in an empty room. Every single clone was gone and the droids were powered down. She sat up and looked around for some way of knowing the time. 

Finally she spotted an ancient wall clock that read 11 AM.

So she'd slept six hours late. Wonderful.

Ahsoka got up and ran outside. She heard Cody shouting at the member of his battalion. 

 "No, no, no! You don't move like that! You want to go into battle tripping over your own feet? No, you don't! Stand up straight!"

Ahsoka winced and went inside the Temple.

After changing clothes, she went up to the Council chambers upon summons and met with Yoda. 

 "Brief you alone, I will," He said. "To Florrum, you must go. A call for help, we have received. Master Koon, you will go with."

 Ahsoka breathed a sigh of relief.
