"Ahsoka, I said block!" Anakin screamed once again. It was only the forth time he'd swung at her and she'd dodged.

"I'm trying not to die, Master!" Ahsoka yelled back.

Anakin's eyes shone with blue fire as he aimed for her again. "It's all your own fault, Snips. Your own stupid fault."

Ahsoka felt his lightsaber swing uncomfortably close and felt the heat on her arms.

 "Stupid, stupid Padawan!"

Ahsoka rolled away from him and activated her lightsaber. "Why are you so mad at me?"

"It's not you. . . It's Padmé. She doesn't want to be with me anymore."

 "Can't say I blame her!"

Anakin roared and attacked her full-force, trying to hit her in every place possible. Ahsoka couldn't block any of them, so she just dodged.

Suddenly Obi-Wan was there, shouting at Anakin. "Stop! This is NOT HOW YOU TRAIN A PADAWAN!"

While Ahsoka was distracted by Obi-Wan's arrival, Anakin took his lightsaber and swung down as hard as he could.

Ahsoka screamed. Obi-Wan activated his own lightsaber and Anakin lunged for him.

Their swords connected for a few moments, sending sparks flying through the air. Anakin was intent on killing his former Master.

"This is why I told you to break attachment!" Obi-Wan yelled.

 "She loved me!" Anakin screamed.

Ahsoka huddled on the floor, whimpering. Anakin had cut her right leg clean off, right above the knee.

While the two Jedi fought, Rex ran into the room. He had heard a commotion and wondered what was going on. But he saw an injured Ahsoka and two generals destroying each other, and he decided what to do.

He grabbed Ahsoka and carried her out of the room. The little Togruta was crying and her leg was bleeding steadily. Rex felt a pang of pity.

He carried her to the medical area and told the healers what appeared to have happened and what had gone on.

Then he ran back to the training room, blasters out and helmet on.

Obi-Wan sliced his lightsaber over Anakin 's head, but his former Padawan skillfully parried the blow.

"How long are you going to fight, Anakin?"

Anakin gritted his teeth.

When Rex entered, Anakin ran at him, with Kenobi at his heels. His general's lightsaber was out, and Rex felt threatened.

He shot once, twice, three times, straight at Anakin, straight in the chest.

For a moment, Anakin just stood there, the rage on his face melting. Then his gaze locked with Rex's.

"Rex?" Anakin breathed. His lightsaber fell from his hand and he fell to the floor, gasping for breath.

Obi-Wan put his lightsaber away and looked down at his Padawan. Rex couldn't read his expression.

Anakin turned to Obi-Wan. " I'm sorry, " he said.

"'Sorry' won't save your life, Anakin."

Rex watched as his general's face changed to a look of dismay. He clutched his chest, then died.

Obi-Wan sniffed. He closed his eyes and turned away.

Rex crawled toward Anakin, putting his lightsaber in his hands and closing his eyes.

"Amazing what anger can do to someone," said Kenobi bluntly, before leaving the room.
