You woke up the next morning feeling a lot better. You made yourself a hot cup of tea, and sat down on the couch. Checking twitter, you said thanks to the people checking up on you, and went to go make yourself some breakfast. It was already 1 in the afternoon, you had slept in a lot. After breakfast you went on the computer, looking at more gifs and spending the next couple of hours replying to tweets and talking to fans. You weren’t sure why people liked talking to you so much, but they were all happy you were tweeting them, so you just kept doing it. Ally had left for a day trip with her parents, to some place with no cell reception, so you were having fun spending a day alone. The next time you looked at the clock it was 5, and you decided to wash off. You spent a long time just sitting in the shower, thinking about what Niall had said. One week, 6 days now, and the tour would be over. He would fly back to L.A. before leaving for Mullingar to see you. Mullingar. You tried not to think about it.

You turned the water off and stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around you. As you put your hair back into a braid, you heard the doorbell ring. You weren’t expecting anyone, but you put on your robe and went to answer the door. Your heart dropped as you opened the door and saw who was standing there.

            Mark.

You tried to close the door, but his hand stopped it.

            “Katie, please, listen to me.”

You looked up at him. No more alcohol on his breath, clean shaven, perfect hair, nice clothes, you would have never known what a mess he had been last night.

“Mark, please, get out of here. I’m done.”

“Katie, I’m serious. Last night I let the alcohol get the best of me. That wasn’t me there, and I’m so sorry for whatever happened. That’s why I came here. To apologize.”

He seemed really sincere, and you started to let your guard down a little bit.

            “Just to apologize? That’s it?”

“Well…” Mark said, getting quieter. You didn’t like the sound of that. “You know how they say drunken words are sober thoughts?”

You just looked at him, confused.

            “I really do love you.”

            That was it.

            “Mark, please leave.”

Suddenly, you felt like you shouldn’t have said that. Mark looked mad, really mad. He reached his arm out and you shielded your face but he went for your waist. Pulling on the sash, he undid your robe, leaving you naked.

            Completely vulnerable.

He pushed you back on the couch, and towered over you. You tried to shield your body, but he came down on top of you, removing his shirt. This was worse than last night

            And he was sober.

Screaming, you drove your foot between his legs, and he fell back in pain.

“You crazy BITCH!” he screamed at you, as he grabbed his shirt and ran out the door.

The nighttime air came through the open door. Unable to do anything else, you just felt to your knees, the breeze filled your house. Cold and shamed, you were lying naked on the floor. Crying, you picked up your phone. You couldn’t call Ally, but it didn’t matter. You didn’t care about talking to anyone other than Niall at this point. You dialed his number, and waited for him to answer.

It rang, and rang, but no answer.

            You called again. Voicemail.

Where was he when you needed him? You rolled over threw your phone against the wall, and cried yourself to sleep.
