warnings - swearing; teeny tiny boyxboy—————
"you need any help with that?" jody asked ryan, awkwardly rubbing her neck as she watched him reach for the kitchen sink.
"what? no, i'm fine." he stated, frowning at the girl. she put her hands up in surrender but didn't leave, instead she chose to watch as he struggled and waited for him to give in.
ryan had been back at ashdene ridge for a week and he somehow became even more moody than he was before the accident. mike had warned them to give him some space and let him deal with everything but she couldn't just stand by and stare at his pitiful attempt of getting a glass of water.
jody sighed to herself and reached over to take the glass out of his hand. all she heard was an annoyed shout as she began filling his glass up. she passed him the now full glass which he took from her grip in a haste, "i didn't need your help, jodes." he grumbled, not meeting her unwavering gaze.
"okay, ryan." she rolled her eyes, deciding to let him live with this notion that he could still do everything he used to without any form of help.
as for ryan, the boy merely stared at the glass of water for a moment. he traced the rim of the glass before attempting to wheel himself out of the room.
he frowned when he realised he would only be going in circles because of his occupied hand.
how does chloe do this? he wondered, becoming increasingly frustrated. still, he wouldn't ask her. he didn't need anyone's help and that was that.
unfortunately for ryan, there were no cup holders anywhere so that wasn't an option. he attempted to balance the glass in his lap but the second he jerked himself forwards, it toppled over and covered his thighs in water. he quickly picked it back up and held onto it, though there wasn't much point given it was nearly empty.
tears of frustration welled in his eyes as he failed to fight them back. he couldn't even get a glass of water without messing up, how pathetic is that?
he grit his teeth and squeezed the glass in his grip, knuckles turning white from the strain. in a burst of anger, he threw the glass against the kitchen counter and it shattered on impact.
glass shards covered the floor and he suddenly realised that he fucked himself over. now he couldn't get out of the kitchen, with or without a drink.
ryan felt wetness in his cheeks. he bit his lip, drawing blood and hit the arm of his wheelchair in frustration. knowing that he was absolutely helpless, he ran a hand through this hair and pulled on the strands, trying to stop himself from sobbing. it didn't work.
he leaned his elbow on the side of his wheelchair and cried, eventually burying his head in the crook of his elbow.
a few of the residents rushed into the kitchen to see what the commotion was. charlie assessed the scene first and stopped the others from entering the kitchen when she saw the broken glass.
the girl turned to jody, who had an inkling of an idea as to what happened, and said, "get mike."
jay and bird shared looks as alex began walking towards ryan slowly. he had recently been in the garden and was one of the few who was wearing suitable shoes.
