warnings - one or two swears; violence—————
ryan tries to hold in his temper.
he tries so hard to not give in to that little voice in his head, telling him to hurt those who hurt him.
however, sometimes he can't do anything about it.
last night was the worst in a while. the boy was minding his own business until bailey's stupid mutt invaded his privacy. ryan glared at the dog as it slumped next to his legs and he flinched slightly as he felt the soft fur.
"scram," he muttered in disgust. mischief only looked at him, "i said scram,"
he tapped him with his foot in a pathetic attempt to get the dog to move. unfortunately for ryan, bailey walked in as his foot touched the dog's side and immediately sent off the wrong idea.
"oi!" the football lover called out angrily, storming towards him, "don't fucking kick him, yeah?"
thankfully they were the only two in the lounge but his language still wasn't appreciated.
"calm down, i barely touched the thing," ryan rolled his eyes.
bailey surprised him by pulling him into a standing position by his collar.
don't get mad.
"oh sure, just like you barely touched your sister when she fell out of that window,"
bailey didn't have time to blink before ryan punched him square in the face.
and suddenly, it was like a dam broke. he lost sight of himself and he just started swinging and oh god there's blood stop.
he couldn't stop.
there was a crack yet he didn't care. hit after hit only pushed away the real ryan, the terrified kid who used to hide away in his wardrobe. in his wake left a monster with no remorse, but ultimately the very reason he'd survived so long in the cruel world they lived in.
hands were grabbing him now. muffled voices were calling his name but it felt like he was underwater. drowning behind his facade as the claws of hidden insanity latched onto his emotions, taking control from the usual puppeteer.
through the haze, he could hear someone screaming and crying, the kind of heavy, broken sound that pours out when you just can't hold something inside anymore.
he ignored it.
it took tyler, jody and may li to pull him off and he wondered how someone of his stature could cause that much panic.
then he finally looked.
bailey's face was completely beaten up. one of his eyes had swollen completely shut and his nose was at an odd angle. his jaw seemed out of place as well, but that may have something to do with the bruises scattered around the area.
blood was dripping from both his nose and mouth; ryan already regretted what happened but for some reason no one was yelling at him. through a blurry gaze, he could make out their horrified expressions; tyler's grip had changed from forceful to comforting. in the background, someone was still screaming their voice hoarse.
it took him too long to realise he was the one crying.

it's taken me a good month to come to the conclusion that it would be easier to do a one shots book instead of having dozens of different works over time. i'll still keep the others where they are but from now on any one shots or drabbles will be posted here : )
