Broken Pieces

Part 9

*Justin's POV*

I sat in the back of the furniture store, hiding as best I could from Sel. Part of it was that fact that we had been here for over 3 hours and she still couldn't pick one, and the other part was I loved to mess with her. She had been talking to the furniture expect ever since we got here but it hadn't seemed to help the least bit.

So I stayed hidden. Always a few steps behind her. Making sure to duck when she turned around. I was actually surprised that she hadn't spotted me yet.

"Well, I guess I'll go with this one since Justin's not here to put in his opinion," she said to the worker.

Suddenly, I popped out from behind her and yelled, "here I am!"

"Oh goodie, now you can help me look for our furniture."

"But-but you just told him you were going with that one," I pointed to the living room set that was near us.

"All part of my plan to get you to come out of hiding," she did and evil yet cute snicker.

"How about this, I go get a children's bedroom set for when Emma comes over and you pick the furniture? And if you haven't picked one by the time I come back, I'll close my eyes and spin around and randomly pick okay? Good. Break!" I yelled running off to the kids section before she could object.

"Justin!" I heard her yell in the background.

Okay, what would Emma like? I had never really shopped for little girl's bedroom before so I didn't quite know where to start. I thought back to the day before, she was wearing pink, so she must like pink. I looked at all the color combinations that they had available with pink. The one that really stood out to me was pink and brown.

I looked at all the pink and brown stuff before stumbling upon a staged bedroom with the pink and brown theme. It was exactly how I imagined a little girl's room. I grabbed the nearest worker and ordered the bedroom set before I could second guess my decision.

I took a quick picture of the room to show to Selena and maybe even Emma before I left to go find Selena, praying that she had finally picked furniture .

I was walking through the store updating Twitter when I ran into Selena. "Fancy seeing you here, stranger," she smiled talking to me. "Are you ready to go?"

"Wait, you picked one?" I asked in disbelief.

She nodded proudly taking out her phone to show me the picture, "I picked black because I figured it would hide, any future accidents we have on the sofa, the best."

I nodded agreeing, pulling up the picture of Emma's bedroom set to show Sel. She seemed to like it so that was a good thing. Finally, we would be able to go home.

*Selena's POV*

Almost the same time that Justin and I got home, Taylor texted me asking how things were going. It was so nice of her, even though she didn't fully support mine and Justin's relationship, that she still checked in on me often.

I replied saying that Justin and I were doing great and we had worked everything out, and I even mentioned that Emma had spent the night last night. She was shocked and asked if we could get ice cream to talk about it.

"Jay?" I called looking for him in the house. Finally I found him in the empty spare bedroom we had, "Jay, what are you doing in here?"

"This can be Emma's room. It's close to ours, but not too close. I have a feeling she will like it," he smiled looking around at the empty pale walls. "We can paint the walls or get someone in here to do it. Put up some pictures. It could be cute."

I nodded, waiting a moment before asking him, "Would you mind if I went to hang out with Taylor for a bit? She wants to catch up."

"Catch up?" he looked at me confused. "You just saw her the other day."

"Well a lot has changed since then, wouldn't you say? Especially, based on the fact that you are now picking out your new daughter's room," I stated stating coldly at him.

I hated when he got like this about my friends, especially Taylor. Unfortunately, their dislike for each other went both way.

"Fine, go. Have fun," he said not even bothering to look at me. I rolled my eyes before leaving the room.

-

Taylor and I sat our cups full of frozen yogurt from our favorite little shop just out of town.

"So tell me everything," she said sounding very interested in the whole Emma thing.

"Well, we went to the park. They told Emma about Justin, and when we tried to leave she threw a huge fit. She didn't want Justin to leave. So Kate let us take her for the night," I said.

"And how did that go?" she asked pressed the topic.

"For who? Me, Justin or Emma?" I asked taking a bite of my now melting yogurt.

"All of that above," she smiled taking a bit as well as she listened to my story.

"Justin and Emma had fun. As for me, not so much. We started by watching a movie so that wasn't too big of a deal. I made popcorn, it was going great. Then, Emma drops her cup full of purple grape juice on our sofa and ruined it." I started to feel a bit of that same anger I felt last night.

She nodded and pushed me to tell more, "So after Justin finally calms me down, we went to bed. But I wake up with a foot in my back. Apparently, Emma had a bad dream and Justin let her in the bed and she doesn't stay on her own side very well. And on top of all that, Justin left me in the morning for a meeting with the label."

She gasped, "So you dealt with Kate all by yourself?"

I nodded filling my mouth with another bit.

"More, more," she commented giggling a little.

I giggled slightly too before starting, "It was so awkward. She thanked me for watching Emma, like I was some kind of babysitter instead of the fiancée to her daughter's father."

"Wow, that's a lot to go through Sel," she said. "But you know you always have me. I will always be here for you. And if you ever need to escape from 'Momma Drama,'" she laughed putting finger quotes around it, "my door is always open. Along with my ears."

"Thanks Tay," I said to her smiling.

"By the way, I think we are going to have to make this a weekly thing, cause I need to stay up on the news. And I will be expecting a text telling me what's going on every now and then," she said causing both of us to burst into laughter.

This was one of the many reasons I loved Taylor so much. She always knew how to make me laugh and take me away from all the drama. I was so glad to have someone like this in my life.
