Broken Pieces Part 24

*Selena's POV*

"Okay now before we start we have to look at the results of the official paternity test that you all took earlier this week," the judge said looking toward one of the people on the staff who handed her a manila folder.

I front of me I heard Justin hold his breath as she opened up the folder and took a single piece of paper out, examining it thoroughly.

It took a minute before she spoke again, "As I'm sure here everyone knows, Kate Somer is the mother of Emmaleigh Somer. As for the father," she said glancing at the sheet once more. "Justin Bieber is in fact the father of Emmaleigh."

I sighed. I honestly don't know what I was hoping for. I mean, we already knew that but there was the same part of me that hoped it wasn't true.

"Now, you will both present your case as to why you should have custody," she said in Justin's direction before turning to Kate's, "and why you think he shouldn't. Mr. Bieber we will start with you."

I watched as Justin turned to his lawyer and began talking to him before his lawyer got up and began talking," Justin Bieber is know for many reason, from his music to even some acting gigs he had done. But one thing Justin is not know for is being a father. And that is all due to the fact that Kate Somer withheld that information from Mr. Bieber for almost 4 years. He miss out on all the memorable things like first steps, first words, and first tooth all because Ms. Somer was too selfish to inform Mr. Bieber. My client would like custody of Emmaleigh to be able to regain all the lost time with his daughter. He wants to make up for all that he missed out on because of Kate. And quite frankly, Emmaleigh seems to have a very strong liking for Mr. Bieber."

I turned my attention to Justin who was smiling happily at his lawyer. Then my eyes landed on Kate. She had a disgusted look on her face. It was almost a look of 'I-don't-want-to-be-here-I-have-so-many-better-things-I-could-be-doing.'

I rolled my eyes turning my attention back onto Justin's lawyer who was finishing up his case as to why Justin should get to be the sole parent of Emma.

"Ms. Somer, it's now your turn," the judge said turning her attention to Kate.

At that moment, her lawyer stood up and began addressing the judge. He talked about how Kate was a 'good person' and how she should be 'rewarded' for being a single mother all these years. He went on and on about how she had to put her life on hold to give Emma everything that she wanted.

Once Kate's team had finished the judge spoke up again, "If it's alright with Both the mother and father, I would like to speak to Emmaleigh."

Justin and Kate glanced at each other and nodded before Justin turned around to me, "Babe will you please take Emma up there?"

I sighed and gently grabbed Emma's hand, leading her up to the judge.

"Hello Emmaleigh," she judge spoke softly.

"Hello miss," Emma spoke softly. I squared to her level next to her and rubbed her back encouragingly.

"Emmaleigh, do you love both your mommy and daddy," the judge asked causing Emma to smile very big and nod.

"If you could go home tonight and either spend time with your daddy or go back home to your mommy, what would you do?" she asked.

Before she answered, I stole a quick look at a Justin who was tensing up due to the question. I could tell by the look on his face that to the judge, this was this was part of the decision.

"My daddy," she said with a grin.

*Justin's POV*

I let out a sigh of relief and a very happy smile after Emma announced that she would want to go with me. I felt myself relax a but for the first time in this battle.

Finally the judge began to get up, "I'm going to take a few minutes to review all the information and then I will come to a decision."

We all watched as she walked away into a back room.

"We have this in the bag. We will get you the custody you deserve and you will never hear from Kate again," Johnson said next to me, a big smile planted on his face.

I gave a small nervous smile and nodded.

We sat there waiting for the judge for what seemed like ages. It was really putting me on edge.

"Dude, where is she?" I muttered to myself running my hand through my hair.

Finally, the judge same back through the door that she had left out of.

She slowly strolled over to her big chair and sat down. After a few minutes of glancing at some papers she had in her hands she looked up, "I have come to a decision. One that many not make everyone happy but it is what is best for Emmaleigh."

She glanced at her papers once more, "However this is a trail. The way I order this is going to be done for two weeks. At the end of the two weeks we will meet again and if all worked during the two weeks that will become the permanent arrangement."

Kate and I both nodded, allowing her to continue.

"Mr. Bieber will receive custody," she stated causing my team to erupt with happiness.

"However," she said loudly, "Ms. Somer will get Emmaleigh on the first weekend. She is allowed to contact you ONLY about things that have to do with Emmaleigh. If either of you violate what has been stated you will lose your privileges. I will see you in two weeks. Case dismissed."

I let out a sigh of realif. It wasn't exacly what I wanted but it was close enough.

I looked over to see Kate storming out of the room. I laughed to myself. However a high pitched scream caused me to lose focus on that.

"Daddy!!" Emma yelled running into my arms. "Do I get to go home with you daddy?" she asked.

I smiled moving her to my hip and holding Selena with my other arm. I gave them both a kiss on the cheek. "Come on, girls. Let's go home."
