Broken Pieces

Part 12

*Selena's POV*

As soon as I got off the plane I jumped into my car and went straight to the hotel. Normally, I would have stayed with my dad but because my grandma was sick all the extra rooms he had were being used by other family members.

After finally getting checked into my room, I pulled out my laptop and Skyped Taylor.

As soon as her bright face popped onto the screen I relaxed just a bit.

"What's up Sel?!" She yelled waving to the laptop.

I waved back but with not as much enthusiasm as her. She caught on quickly, "What happened now?"

I got confortable on the bed and began my story, "So you know how my grandma got sick?" she nodded so I went on, "Well Justin couldn't go because he had a meeting, no big deal right? So I get on the plane and I'm thinking about Justin and the wedding and the guy next to me notices my ring. So we start talking about the wedding and Justin and somehow flaws came up. I happened to mention he had I kid and he told me that if he were me he would be worried about Justin falling back in love with her."

"Wait...So the stranger that you met on a plane ride told you, that you should be worried about a boy you're engaged to and have known for 3 and half years?"

I sighed, "You know when you go up to someone, someone you don't know at all, and they give you the best advise because they aren't biased. They don't have any influence either way, that's what this is. And let's be honest Justin's been acting really weird. After I got home from being with you, Fredo was there and left as soon as I got there and the rest of the night, he wouldn't even look at me. And even before that when he waved Kate over to eat lunch with us when he knew I hated her. The way he snuck around to have lunch with her to even find out about Emma. It all adds up Taylor. I don't know what to do. "

We sat there and looked at each other for a moment, "Have you talked to him about it?"

"If you were a guy and you were cheating and your fiancée goes, 'hey boo are you cheating?' would you say yes? Didn't think so," I replied sarcastically.

"No I mean what if it's not Kate or Emma or any of that? What if he misses his brother and sister or he is stressed or something? I mean you never know."

"I don't know, Tay. I'm freaking out. I think I'm going to go home early and surprise him if you know what I mean."

"Just be careful, don't be too rash. If something does happen, let him explain."

I nodded and thanked her before she said she had a recording session to get to and we ended the call.

I really hoped she was right. I didn't know what I would do she wasn't.

*Justin's POV*

I hated myself for agreeing to meet up with Kate. I decide that from now on the only times I would allow myself to be with Kate was about Emma. We were just co-parents, nothing more.

I looked down at the table when I saw her walk in. For some reason, that I couldn't stop, I was starting to get little flutters in the pit of my stomach.

No, I was not going to let this happen. I loved Selena, only Selena. We were going to get married and have kids of our own, and I was not going to let Kate mess that all up.

I swallowed hard as she sat down. Without Emma. After ordering our drinks, I looked at Kate, "So, what did you want to talk to me about?"

She did that smiled that always made me melt when we were dating before she spoke, "Emma has been talking about you so much. She wants to spend more time with you. So I wanted to see if we could work out, like a weekly schedule for you and her to be able to spend time together."

She talked about me. Emma talked about me. That made me so happy. She wanted to be with me, and I was glad because in all honesty I wanted to spend more time with her. I wanted to make up for the lost time and now I could.

"Well Selena's gone all this week so I'm free," I said before I could catch myself. I really shouldn't have let it slip that Selena wasn't home.

"Oh, she's not home? What a shame. Maybe tomorrow I could bring Emma over?"

Just dropping Emma off? That didn't sound too bad. Surly, I could stay out of trouble. I was just getting my daughter. Nothing else.

We ate lunch, and somehow, I stayed out of trouble. Kate was kind of flirting but I ignored it.

After we were finished we both stood up, "So anytime tomorrow is good. Just come on over."

She nodded her head and leaned a bit closer to me. I took a step back. "What do you think you're doing?" I asked alerted.

"You didn't seem to mind it the other day. Come on, it's not like Selena will even find out. We are just having fun."

I stared at her blankly, "Goodbye Kate." I said and turned not bothering to look back at her.

"See you tomorrow, Jay!" She called out.

I wasn't going to let her get to me like that. I was engaged, and I loved Selena, I told myself over and over.

But for some reason, I couldn't get Kate out of my head.
