"No, I am not seeking revenge," Purdy said with a sigh. And I jumped with surprise.

"What you can read minds?" I questioned.

"No I can't read minds you said it out loud what sort of weird fantasy world do you live in, what's wrong with you Steven? No wait, don't answer that, let's get something to eat first, we have all the time in the world to figure everything out." She said with a shake of her head.

I hold the door of the gym open for her, trying to act as normal as possible and as she walked out the door, she smiled up at me. I expected her to walk over to her car, but she hung back and reached out her hand for me to take. I took it; I didn't think I deserved the right to hold her hand.

She unlocked her car, and I held open her door for her, then I quickly ran around to my side. My side I liked that.

"Where are we going?" I asked praying Purdy hadn't already told me and that I had zoned out again.

"We are going to Denise's cafe, her food is excellent, and she is gonna love you." She giggled. Wait! What! Did Purdy giggle, not joking when I say it was the best sound I have ever heard and it made me truly happy, I was grinning from ear to ear my cheeks were getting sore.

"Can I ask you lots of questions?" I bravely said.

"Yes, of course, only I might not answer them."

"Oh, sorry." I felt discouraged and embarrassed.

"Nerd Boy, I'm messing with you, you can ask me anything you want."

She pulled her car into a free parking space; the car journey went by far too quickly; I didn't want this night to end. I thought she was going to get out, but she turned her body towards me and announced, "I won't lie to you, Steven. I like you, and if we want to continue having a friendship or relationship, you have to be openly honest with me, promise." Before I could answer she was out the door and I immediately rushed over to her.

"Yes, I promise," I blurted out so quickly if honesty is all that it took to keep holding her hand, then that wasn't going to be a problem. "What about you, will you be straightforward with me?" She didn't answer; she wrapped her arms around my waist and hugged me. I bent down and put my nose into the nape of her neck and inhaled deeply, and as I hugged her back, I lifted her slightly off the ground. Purdy Giggled.

"Get inside now, you two. Purdy stop manhandling that young boy in front of my cafe." screeched a woman. I was jolted out of heaven and almost dropped Purdy. Then the woman laughed. "Come on in you two, Carlos phoned to say you were bringing your new boy toy here." The woman laughed again.

"DENISE," Purdy shouted then continued saying, "seriously. We came to eat not to get taunted."

"But, Purdy this is going to be fun. You have brought a boy home from school, have you any idea how long Carlos and I have waited for this day to happen."

Denise is tall, with dyed blonde hair, I smile at her, and she suddenly makes a high pitched squealing noise and embraces me in a tight girlie hug. It appears that all of Purdy's relatives and friends are huggers so looks like I will be joining that club, well for the time being anyway.

"Oh, Purdy! He is just so darn adorably cute. Come on in, let's get you two something to eat." And she clapped her hands together, did a little jump and then ushered us into her cafe with shoo-ing hand movements.

The cafe was small but quaint; the only other customers were a group of four boys doing homework. First impressions, they appeared a little threatening, and I started to feel anxious all of a sudden. Purdy led me to a table, and we sat opposite each other.
