"Where is Tony?!"
Michelle's heart almost jumped out of her chest, as she woke up to the door smacking into the wall. She opened her eyes and saw Pepper, but without the normal, friendly smile that she always had plastered on her face. In fact, she had a worried, angry, scared look, her eyes screaming for answers.
"I need answers, where is he."
Bucky was too shocked to even create a full sentence, as all that got out was;
"Hospital"
Pepper was clearly satisfied with that answer as she immediately stormed out of the room again. The room was silent for a while, everyone too shocked to move. But not for long, as Peter quickly took his chance and stormed out after her, Bucky running after him, and Michelle just sighed as she hurried out of the room.
Somehow they all managed to get in a car and get Happy to drive them to the hospital. When they got there, they saw Pepper running inside. The trio quickly raced after her, sprinting up the stairs.
Bucky sighed. Women could be quite fierce, he had to admit. Pepper honestly didn't look like she could run up all those stairs at this speed, but there she was, almost able to keep up with Bucky himself.
Bucky decided to blame it on his age.
Michelle was still running up the stairs when she heard something that broke her heart. She heard her guardian scream her lungs out, sobbing right after. She bit her lip to stop it from trembeling as she picked up her pace.
When she finally reached Tony's room, she wished she'd stayed home. Pepper was on the ground, hands covering her mouth as tears streamed down her face. She was looking at Tony who, honestly, looked slightly better than he did the day before.
But it still wasn't a great state to find your fiance in, of course.
She immediately ran over to her, kneeling next to her and hugging her close. Tears of her own were flowing down her cheeks. She loved getting comfort from Pepper whenever she cried. But having it the other way around...
That simply broke her heart.

Test results.
They either sucked,
or they didn't.
But that was, like, 1.5% chance.
So of course, it had to be bad news.
"... shrapnel left in his chest. It has been slowly making it's way over to his heart, hence the heart attack. We've tried to remove it with open heart surgery, but it's too deep in his chest. He would not survive it if we tried removing it."
"But he's going to be okay, right? You- you can do something about it. Right...?" Peter was shaking all over now, as he listened to the doctor's test results.
Natasha and Steve were still in the hospital too, listening carefully. Natasha held Peter's shoulders in an attempt to comfort him.
"He's had it before, right?" The doctor looked over at Pepper.
"Yes," her cracked voice showed that she was about to break any second. "W-why?"
"He had an Arc-Reactor, right?" Peter sat up straight as he heard the doctor's words. His eyes widened, while a small spark landed in them, knowing what came next.
"If we re-create the arc reactor, he could be his normal self again."
Peter almost fell over as he jumped from the seat he'd been sitting on for 5 hours now. Pepper's eyes were filled with joy and happiness, as a tear dropped down her face. But not because she was sad, but because she had hope again.
"How long would it take," Steve tried to stand up, but quickly fell back down as a huge wave of exhaustion hit him. "To put that thing in his chest?"
"Limit 3 weeks."
A sigh of relief went around the room. Peter would've been bouncing on his feet, were it not for the great exhaustion dawning on him, practically forcing him back in his seat.
But as soon as the hope had come, it was gone again.
"But, we can't make the arc reactor... Only Mr. Stark can."
The room fell silent, before Pepper spoke up, hope still audible in her voice, as a naughty spark glimmered in her eyes.
"Tony doesn't know it, but I saved his last arc reactor."
Peter looked at her in confusion.
"I thought he threw that in the sea?" he said, confused. He remembered Mr. Stark telling him about that when he had asked where his arc reactor went, on the way to Germany.
"Well, I'm CEO of Stark Industries. I have power of some things too, you know?" She winked at the boy. "It's in my office, I can easily get it here. There's another surgery needed for this, I presume?" she finished, the last part meant for the doctor, who nodded.
"Yes. But as soon as that's behind us, and Mr. Stark can return home again, he can make the new arc reactor himself."
Bucky walked over to Peter, clapping the boy's shoulder in a friendly manner, giving him a wide grin. But Peter could clearly see relief in the man's eyes.
"Told you that man was too stubborn to die."
