"Peter?"
Peter looked up from his book to see Michelle standing in the doorway. He gave her a smile and turned back to his book.
"Question?" Michelle didn't wait for an answer, and walked in. She sat down next to Peter, and dropped her head on his shoulder. She didn't care about his reaction, she was just too tired. But to her surprise, he just looked at her, and nodded.
"What is the relationship between you and Tony?"
Peter frowned, clearly not knowing what Michelle meant with that question.
"You know, since you haven't slept for about 3 days because he was in the hospital."
"Oh," Peter turned his head to face the other way, and sighed. "Well, he's my only father figure. I've never seen my parents, and I had to live with my aunt and uncle, but Ben died. Since then, I've been living with aunt May." Michelle heard a crack in Peter's voice. She could feel the pain he had, and it made her want to cry.
"I've never met my parents," Michelle was already on the edge of crying, but still decided to tell her story. "I thought I had parents, but when I got here, I heard that the 'parents' I had, weren't my parents. I got adopted by a couple when I was five, their names were Killian and Emma. Killian died when I was almost 8, and shortly after Emma got really sick and couldn't take care of me anymore. I had 3 friends in school, and one of them was the niece of Pepper Potts, and Pepper offered to be my guardian. I've been living with her for 7 years now. My friends all went missing 3 years ago."
She sniffed before continuing.
"I tried to remember everything for the police, but every time I think about it, it just gets fuzzy. I don't even remember how or where it happened. I just- I wish I could do more..."
Tears were making their way down her face now as she thought back to that horrible moment, when she had realised her friends were gone.
She almost jumped out of her skin as she felt something soft on her cheek.
"Oh, go- I'm so sorry. I-I don't- I didn't mean to scare you, I-I just..." she heard Peter stutter, and she could just hear that his face was as red as a tomato.
Michelle giggled.
She immediately slammed a hand to cover her mouth, earning a laugh from Peter.
"Okay. I-I'm going to try that again now." Michelle gave a short nod and removed her hand.
Peter carefully wiped away the tears from her cheeks, as if she was thin glass. He looked in her bright blue eyes, as they started to fill with tears again. Peter put his hand behind Michelle's hair, and pulled her into a hug. She wrapped her arms around him, as tears flowed down her cheeks.
