K.O had not seen being found and captured in his grand solo rescue plan.
Though, thinking back on his loose make-it-up-as-you-go plan, it shouldn't have been such a surprise.
. . .
K.O groggily got out of bed.
Today was the day!
He'd decided yesterday that he would wake up earlier than his mom so he'd be able to go without interruption or interference. Sleepily, he pulled on his clothes and stretched as he started thinking about a way in.
The main door from the front was too obvious, as he'd learnt before from experience.
The garage door (and the back door) were always holding robots of some kind as he'd seen when they were open.
But then there was-
-the vent!
Smiling, he pulled on his leg warmers and walked toward the door, taking his messily pre-written note and ticking it to the door with some stickers of heroes.
"To Mommy,
I went to work early to see (y/n)
-K.O"
At least now she wouldn't worry about where he was in the morning when she got up. Stepping outside he felt instant regret. Was it always this cold at 5am?!
Harsh, freezing wind battered against his skin as he started a small jog. If he wanted to get there so you could be safe at work, he'd need to get there fast. He was so captivated with the thought of getting you out of BoxMore, that he'd neglected the beautiful view of the morning sun. Musty white clouds painted on pink and orange hues from the sun hiding just under the horizon. He kept running. He couldn't get caught up in pointless sky gazing.
Sooner or later he stood in the parking lot of BoxMore, panting quietly as he hoisted himself up into the vent. Stupidly, he didn't take note of any cameras, the fact that the room (y/n) was in had been moved and how loud he was as he scrambled around the vent system. But, what came next was what he couldn't have predicted at all.
With a powerful blow to the vent, the cover popped off from it's screws and clattered to the ground. He quickly came scrambling out, a huge grin on his face as he swung up his head to look at you as he got to his feet.
"(y/n)! I'm here to res-" Cutting himself off, the breath left his body. In your place, Boxman sat on a single chair in the vacant room, a smug grin settled on his pale face. K.O had time to realise really how early it was for Boxman; looking at him more closely he could see how disheveled he looked. Green hair still slightly frazzled in a poor attempt at settling it in it's normal places, a mug of what he assumed was coffee clutched in his claw and the slight bags under his eyes.
"Good morning K.O. Looking for someone?" Boxman giggled slyly, bringing his good hand up to his mouth to emphasise how funny he found it. He quietened down before taking a sip of his coffee.
K.O puffed out his chest and planted his hands on his hips, widening his stance. No way he was letting him taunt him again.
"Not this time Boxman! You will tell me where you've put (y/n) or else!" K.O threatened, moving his hands to his chest and curling them into fists as he readied himself to fight. Boxman looked at him for a moment, the room completely quiet and still before Boxman suddenly erupted into a fit of laughter.
"Oh-Oh that's! AhaAhahAha...that's real rich K.O..." He wheezed, rubbing a tear from his eye before taking another sip of coffee. "but I'm afraid you won't be getting cozy with her anymore." He muttered with a small smirk.
Pulling a small remote out of his pocket, he smashed a button in and suddenly K.O was scooped into the air and spread like a starfish; his hands and feet being held down by metal restrains attached to the metal board.
"Hey!" K.O growled, thrashing against the solid, cold metal. Boxman cackled, and called out for the robots who came tumbling in. At the sight of K.O they all gasped and grinned widely.
The next thing K.O remembered was being left in the room and seeing Shannon and Darrel standing outside on guard as they all left.
. . .
"Why do I always mess up?" K.O grumbled miserably to no one in particular. This had gone terribly.
The room was hauntingly still and quiet aside from the distant huff of machinery. How long was he going to be trapped in here? It was only midday and its had already felt like years had passed.
Closing his eyes, he mumbled a small apology for not getting to you and lent his head back against the metal slate. He'd get to you somehow.
