Confidence & Cheer Problems

My first week in school was amazing.

By the time Friday had rolled around, I had honestly forgotten that I was a 'New Student'.

Emily and I had become close and usually, it was always me, her, and Brailey together.

"But Jenny, you have to try out with me." Brailey begged me as we made our way to the gym.

Just like me, Brailey had experience in stunts and tricks, so she was one of the many sophomores trying out for the team.

"Sorry Brailey. I don't do cheerleading." I told her as I threw my hands up in defense.

"But you would be perfect. Stop being so modest." she complained as we stepped into the locker room.

"She's right Jenny." agreed Emily. "There's a first for everything."

I sighed in defeat. I mean, it was something to think about.

It could actually be fun.

"Fine." I agreed.

Brailey squealed as she jumped up and down and wrapped me into a big hug.

Just then, Heather appeared from around the lockers along with Amber and Sara.

"Did I just hear you say that you're trying out for the cheer team?"

she scoffed.

"Um, yea." said Brailey, nervously.

"Yes. I'm trying out. Problem?" I asked her as I folded my arms across my chest.

"As if. I already know which twin is going to make it. And its not going to be you." she said as she rolled her eyes.

"Yea!" said Sara from behind her.

"Whatever." I said rather bored, as I pushed my way past them and into the gym.

Emily and Brailey looked at each other.

"That girls got balls." said Emily.

Brailey nodded her head in agreement.

Later that day, as I was on my way to my locker, I felt someone smack me from behind.
On my butt.

I turned around as quick as lightning and was about to slap the person, but they caught my arms.

"Woah there princess."

I looked up into the face of a smirking Lucas.

I rolled my eyes at him.

"Don't you ever do that again." I told him as I broke free of his grip and made my way to my locker.

He leaned against the locker beside mines.

"Or what?" he challenged me.

I laughed at him.

"Whatever Lucas."

I finished putting up my books just as a group of girls came running down the hallway and into the gym.

I raised my eyebrows at Lucas.

"Cheerleading tryouts." he answered and I nodded my head in understanding.

Just then, I spotted Lizzie coming down the hallway with Heather and Sara.
