Heyyy. I know I disappointed many of you with how long it took me to update.

I will start my normal routine back starting this week.

Chapter 27

Midnight Paradise

After arriving home and begging Lucas not to say anything to my parents, he reluctantly agreed. He placed a soft kiss on my forehead that reminded me of why I was sitting here crying in the first place.

I looked up at him and thought for a moment. Lucas was really caring and thoughtful, and he was sincerely concerned about me. I could tell he was getting frustrated with my stubbornness, and I wanted to show him that I had true feelings for him, and that I was just afraid to admit it.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked me as he narrowed his eyes.

"I was just thinking. What if we got out of this place for a while?" I suddenly burst out.

I actually surprised myself with those words.

"Out if this place?" he repeated. "What place?"

I shrugged my shoulders.

"You know, this place. This city. Away from these people." I said in a low voice.

I really didn't know what I was thinking.

It was probably in the heat of the moment. Yeah, that's it. I'm just frustrated. It wasn't me talking. It was my inner Jenny. The Jenny who was hurt and scared and upset, and felt like Lucas was the only person in the world right now that could make those feelings go away. The Jenny that-

"Sure." Lucas said, interrupting my deep thoughts.

"Sure?"

"Yeah. I wouldn't mind getting away. At least for a couple of days or so." he said in louder voice as if he were actually considering my whacky outburst.

I looked at him with one eyebrow raised.

"Seriously?" I asked him.

"It was your idea." he said blankly.

"Yeah, but I mean, I'm all talk. I'm in a very emotional state right now. I could say anything." I told him using hand gestures to make my point.

"Seriously Jenny. Let's do it. It wouldn't hurt anyone. We can go somewhere just to be alone. Just the two of us." he said grabbing one of my small hands in his.

I gave him a small smile.

"That's nice Lucas, but where are we gonna go? I mean, look at us. We're sixteen. Its not like we could leave the country or anything."

He chuckled in his deep voice.

"We don't have to leave the country Jennifer. As a matter of fact, I have the perfect place for us to go. No drama, no gossip, no Heather, no Brody, no cell phones, just us."

He grabbed my free hand and kissed it, sending a tingle down my spine. Who knew under this bad boy front, that there was a caring, human, spirit?

"My parents would kill me." I said, still smiling at the thought of us leaving town without a trace.
