Chapter 29
Babes & Birthdays
"Its Saturday!" my sister screamed as she jumped up and down on my bed.
I opened my eyes slowly and groaned. "What are you telling me this for?" I slurred out with tiredness.
My sister put a hand on her hip and bent down so that her face was mere inches away from mines.
"It means that its Riley's birthday today!" she screamed.
I sat up quickly.
"It sure is!" I squealed excitedly.
Lizzie and I got up from my bed in our pj's and snuck to Riley's room. Every year on her birthday, Lizzie and I would sneak into her room, hide on either side of her bed, and spring up and yell "Happy birthday Riley!" directly into both of her ears.
Riley was sound asleep when we entered.
Usually, we go through with our plans, but Lizzie tripped over a chair and woke Riley up.
"What are you guys doing in here?" she asked tiredly as she sat up in her bed.
"Its your birthday idiot!" Lizzie and I screamed at once.
We looked at each other and we all burst out laughing.
"Get up,get dressed, and get ready. Today, you are 14 which means that you can finally go to the mall with us." I said as I walked towards Riley's door.
Riley had always wanted to take mall trips with us but mom insisted that she was too young.
Don't ask.
We all made our way downstairs to the smell of a delicious breakfast being cooked by our mom.
"Here comes the birthday girl." My mom sing-songed to dad as they both embraced Riley into a hug that made her turn blue.
I laughed as I turned back up towards the stairs when I heard my phone ring.
I raced to my room and picked up my phone which read Brailey's name.
"Hello?"
"Jenny! You have to come to the mall today!" She raced out as she struggled to take a deep breath.
"Why?" I asked her in curiosity.
"Everyone's going to be there. Don't ask why, but if we want to be everyone then we also need to be there!" she exclaimed.
I laughed at my best friend.
"We'll be there. Its Riley's birthday today. The mall was already apart of our plans."
"Great! Tell Riley to check her phone, there's a special message in there for her. I've got to go, you know how long it takes me to get ready. See ya."
The phone hung up with a click.
Placing my phone on the charger, I ran back down the stairs to join the rest of my family.
****~~~~*****
"I'm gonna live like tomorrow doesn't exist!" We wailed to the top of our lungs, singing along to Sia's Chandelier.
We were in the car on our way to the mall, laughing and making jokes.
Riley really seemed to be enjoying herself, and I could tell that she was in a great mood. I would be too, considering that for her birthday she received a platinum credit card with $500 to spend.
