QOTC : Would you want to be Jenny at this point?

Chapter 16

Suspension & Suspicion

I took the car home after lunch, since mom told Lizzie that she would pick her up from cheer practice today.

I arrived at my house a little after 12, and took a deep breath as I walked into my house.

"Jennifer Hayden Nichols!" my mom called out from her study as soon as she heard the door slam.

That's the thing I hate about schools. They just have to call your parents. Assholes.

I walked slowly and steadily as I prepared my story.

"Jennifer, get in here, now." my mother said in a stern voice.

I sighed and walked inside, closing the door behind me.

"Jennifer Nichols. What were you thinking?" she yelled at me as she ran a hand through her blonde hair.

"Mom, I-"

"I mean, fighting? You've never gotten into a fight a day in your life. Then swearing at your principal? Jenny, this is so unlike you." she said in a concerned tone as she looked at me as if she could somehow figure the answer out by staring at me.

"I-I-" I started. I didn't even know what to say.

"Your friend Emily called me the other night. She told me that you slept with that boy from across the street. You lied to me Jennifer. You told me that you spent the night at Brailey's." she told me as she looked at me with worry.

"She what!" I screamed and stood up from where I was sitting.

"Jennifer, calm down. She was just worried about you." my mom said.
Worried about me my ass. I can't believe she would do something like that. She wasn't my real friend at all.

"What do you have to say for yourself?" she asked me sternly.

"First off, I wouldn't have fought if I didn't have to. Second of all, I swore at Mr. Hughes because he didn't take the time to actually listen to me. Third of all, technically, I did sleep with Lucas." I saw my mothers eyes widen in horror before I continued my sentence.

"But nothing happened whatsoever." I finished.

"No matter what you say Jennifer, that doesn't release my anger and disappointment. You've never done anything like this before. So from now until further notice, you're grounded."

"But mom,-"

"No butts. You will not leave this house, but you can have friends over as long as I approve. Now go to your room." she said as she pointed towards the door.

I sighed and got up to leave. Good thing my mom let's us keep our phones when we're grounded.

I couldn't wait to call Brailey later.
