Cookies & Kisses
As we stepped inside of his house, I noticed the smell of cookies.
Freshly baked cookies.
It took me moments to get used to this house. I mean, it was huge.
Bigger than my house, that's for sure.
And that's saying something.
"You done drooling over my house?"
Lucas asked me, smirking as he took off his leather jacket revealing his biceps.
"I wasn't drooling." I told him as I followed him into the kitchen.
There was a woman standing over the stove in an apron, and a little girl sitting at the huge table, drawing.
His mom turned around and smiled uneasily at me.
"Mom, this is-"
"Yes, I remember. Lizzie right?" she asked me as she raised an eyebrow.
I laughed.
"Actually, I'm Jenny. Lizzie's my twin sister." I told her as I reached my hand out to her.
Her smile instantly lit up.
"I should have guessed you were someone else. You aren't drooling over Lucas here like your sister was. I'm Mrs. Brewing." she told me as she smiled at me.
His mom was really pretty.
She was a thin woman with dark hair and beautiful skin. She looked like an actress off of a 'X-Out' commercial.
"Its very nice to meet you Mrs. Brewing." I told her as she shook my hand.
"Please, call me Lindsay. Finally Lucas, a girl with manners." she said to him in a teasing tone.
Lucas smirked at me and whispered in my ear as she turned her back to us and looked towards the stove.
"Looks like you have a fan."
I hit him on the arm playfully and turned away from him.
I felt a hand on my leg and I turned around to face the little girl that I had saw at the table before.
"Hi." she told me and lifted her arms up to me.
She was so cute.
Her long, brown hair was in two pigtails and she had on a dress with flowers on it.
"Hi." I told her as I picked her up in my arms.
"Who is this cutie?" I turned to ask Lucas, who had disappeared to the refrigerator.
"That is Haley." Mrs. Brewing told me as she sat a pan of cookies on the table.
"She seems to really like you Jenny." she continued as she cleared Haley's drawings off of the table.
Lucas spoke up.
"That's a first. She's usually so shy." he said as he walked over and grabbed two cookies off of the tray.
I turned to Haley, who was still in my arms.
"How old are you?" I asked her.
She held up 4 fingers.
"This many." she told me as she started playing in my hair.
Mrs. Brewing came over and struggled to separate her from my arms.
