"Ivy I know you're going to love it here in Tulsa, I just know it."
I pulled out my pack of cigarettes and flicked open my lighter and lit myself up. I flicked my lighter back closed and put in back in my pocket as I took the first puff of my cancerstick. "Is that so, McKayla?" I asked as I exhaled
"Ivy, I suggest you don't do that, you'll look like a Grease." McKayla warned
"A what?" I asked as I smoked in spite of her comment
"A Greaser." McKayla sighed, "Here we have two types of people. Greasers, and Socs."
"That fuck do either of those things mean?" I asked
"Seriously Ivy." McKayla warned
"What? I move here from Cincinnati just to be ridiculed into what I can and can't do? Mickey, that's kind of why I left Cincinnati in the first place." I said
"You see that guy over there?" McKayla asked as she pointed to a man in a leather jacket and not one hair out of place
"Yeah." I replied as I continued smoking
McKayla grabbed my cancerstick and stomped it out. "Hey!" I objected, but it was too late. I gently hit her upside the head and she winced before rubbing it. "Those are expensive." I warned
"I'm trying to help you, Ivy." McKayla warned back
Me and McKayla were best friends in Cincinnati, until she moved to Oklahoma with her family. I soon got sick of Ohio, to the point where I couldn't take it anymore. The only person who I could contact and would answer was McKayla, and she was glad to take me in. Apparently she moved out from her family's place and in with her friends but still go to school, me on the otherhand I dropped out not too long ago.
"Whatever, what about that guy?" I scoffed
"He's a Greaser. Socs and Greasers don't mix, so I'm trying to tell you now if you want to succeed in this town you better quit your habits right now." McKayla stated
"I should have stayed in Ohio..." I mumbled, "So what are you a Soc or something?"
"Yes. I am. And I will not watch my best friend turn into a Greaser." McKayla said
I ignored her words, social structure doesn't scare me. "So what does this town have to offer?" I asked as we walked down the sidewalk
"They've got a drive in movie, a school, a gas station, I don't know man that's pretty much it." McKayla shrugged
"Simple." I commented
"The simplest you get." McKayla agreed
"No wonder you have all the time on your hands to divide the town in two social classes." I joked
