Chapter 21: Fourth of July
You woke up at 2:43 a.m in American time, so it was 10:43 a.m over at home. Tom was awake, too, sitting up and watching a cartoon program. You roll over and touch his hand.
"Oh, good morning, love. How'd ya sleep?" he greeted you.
"Hm, good morning, Tom. Just fine. You?" you pull yourself up leaning on Tom's' shoulder.
"Just fine, love, thank you." he kissed your forehead.
"Oh! Happy fourth!" you tell him. He laughed and said it back.
"So the firework display won't start until ten?" you ask.
"Yup. And darling, it's early. We should get to sleep." he laid down next to you and closed his eyes.
"B-but Tom..." you start. "It's almost eleven where we live."
"So?"
"Well, I am not used to the time difference!"
"Neither am I!"
"Then why are you sleeping?" Tom stayed silent for a while.
"I'm lazy."

"Babe, wake up! The sun is rising!" Tom whispered into your ear. You at up and look at him. He looked at you with hopeful, large, eager eyes. You giggle softly and get out of bed. You pull on one of Toms cream coloured sweatshirts that was too big for you, and a black knee length skirt and your shoes, comb your hair and walk out the door with Tom. The sun had just started rising, and the vibrant colours of dazzling reds yellows and oranges glistened upon the calm foamy water. It was gorgeous. Tom holds your hand tightly, reminding you of the beauty and pure awe that the world really does wield.
After the sun had fully perched itself sturdy in the sky, a few more people were wandering around. It was about six a.m., and these people looked as though going to work. This was a small town, just about three miles long, but squished together. There was mostly restaurants and pubs, and two clothing stores. Just a little pass-by town. After the sun had risen, Tom stood up, bringing you with him. Most of the stores weren't open until ten, so you two had some time to kill. So you and Tom take a short walk around the town and the beach. After a while, Tom and you sat at a bench and talked. About stuff. Like the future.
"If we had kids, what would you like to name them?" Tom asked you all of a sudden.
"Depends on how many and what sex." you shrug. "No more than two kids. Unless the second time I have twins or something." you raise an eyebrow at yourself.
"Hmm.. Two boys." Tom said.
"Michael and William."
"My middle name?"
"It's a fantastic name." you say.
"Ok, ok. Two girls." Tom smiled.
"Phoebe and Lorelei." you explain, smiling at him.
"A boy and a girl?" Tom looked at you with a side glance.
"William and Lorelei."
"Ah. Ok." Tom kissed your forehead. "Those are fantastic names, love."
"What about you?" you ask him.
"Well, I like Serenity and Michael," he started. "But I also like John, Cassie, and Jade. And Christopher." he stated.
"I love Christopher." you agree with him. You two talked for what seemed just like five minutes, but ended up to be about three hours. It's amazing how fast the time goes when you're with someone you love. There were a few more people out, more people setting up their stores or stands. After a while of more talking, the small town was bustling with people.
"Let's go get some food, love." Tom stood and grabbed your hand, helping you up. You two walk into a bar and grill and were greeted at the door by a very attractive ginger boy.
"Good morning, how are you today?" he asked politely.
"Oh, just fine, thank you! You?" Tom answered with a wide smile.
"Good, thank you. Table for two?" he looked at both of you. You nod and the man sort of stopped turning, glanced at you and smiled slightly.
"This way.." he almost whispered. Tom gave you a side glance with a raised eyebrow. The man led you two to your table and smiled sweetly.
"Do you have any questions about anything?" he asked, looking at you. You and Tom nod your head and smile.
"Thank you sir." you tell him.
"No, miss, thank you." he said and walked off.
"This is a town of flirters!" you hiss at Tom. Tom laughed quietly and nodded.
"I suppose so." then he looked at his menu and studied it, same as you. During the day, the fourth of July didn't seem that special. Just more people wearing American colours and kids carrying small flags. After the lovely meal and the fun flirting, you and Tom left. The street performers were setting up again, this time they had tambourines, two guitars and an accordion.
"Are they allowed to do things like that?" you lean in and tell Tom.
"Apparently." Tom replied.
They sang in Spanish, the women slowly moving their hips.
"This is so pretty!" you state, smiling at the street urchins. You immediately pull out ten dollars and place it in the basket the performers had placed. One song after another they played, and time went by. Then the sun had reached the very highest that it could, and it was noon. The performers packed up their stuff and started counting money.
"About one fifty dollars, guys." one of the girls said.
"Sweet." one of the men said, not really paying attention. You walked over to the group, with Tom closely following.
"Hey, I just wanted to tell you guys I really like your music. You're a lot of fun." you tell them smiling.
"Oh god, thanks! Not a lot of people tell us of they like us or not. I guess our pay tell us, though." the man with glasses laughed. You laughed with him and reached your hand out. He grabbed your hand and shook it.
"Hello." you greeted, telling them your name, and shook hands with all the others.
"I'm Billy." the man with glasses introduced himself.
"Isabella." the dark women with the thick Spanish accent shook your hand.
"Maya." the dainty woman smiled politely.
"I'm Doug, miss." a very handsome blond man greeted.
"Castiel, and no, I'm not the one from Supernatural." a dark haired man said with a laugh.
"This is my boyfriend, Tom." you introduce him to the group.
"Oh, el es muy guapo..." Isabella whispered to Maya.
"Sí, muy bonito.. ¿por qué el no esta mi novio?" the two of them laughed together.
"Hehehe, muchos gracias, señoras bonitas.." Tom said with a confident smirk.
"O-oh..." Isabella laughed nervously.
"¿Te hablas español, señor?" Maya asked.
"Sí, señora." Tom smiled.
"Lo siento.." the two women said laughing.
"What are you three saying?" you ask Tom. He laughed and told you later.
"Well, I'm looking forward to seeing you guys tonight at the display." Billy smiled. You and Tom bid goodbye and walked off. The display would not start for ten hours. That's a lot of time to kill.
