The image of her heartbroken father etched itself into her mind and refused to be forgotten. The painful sobs that left his lips, as the memory of her mother pulling out of the driveway not even looking back at the family that she was left behind. Avery knew she wouldn't be able to cope with all these sudden changes in her life.

Right now Atropos and Thanatos and their friends weren't her main concern, as thoughts about her father and his well-being came to mind. She wondered if they'd have to move because it seemed that her mother wasn't going to help pay the bills anymore, would her father have to get a second job?

She shook her head, the constant battle of thoughts right now made the bile rise in her throat. Avery needed a distraction and she needed it right now. Avery just couldn't seem to accept her mother's betrayal, Avery always looked up to her parent's relationship wanting one just like their ideal lifestyle. She felt like hitting her head for not noticing their apparently breaking relationship, she tried to wrack her brain for answers and she was left with questions that wouldn't be answered anytime soon.

Avery didn't know how to deal with what happened with her mother and her father. She began cleaning, this simple task distracting her even just this moment from the pain that would manifest within her at the loss of her mother and the mental breakdown of her father. It didn't take Avery long before the kitchen was spotless, but seeing as how it was still pretty early she grabbed a mop and went on to the bathroom doing a thorough clean of the sink, shower and toilet before mopping the floor.

She avoided going into her parent's room, the memory of her mother packing the suitcase. Her school problems weren't worth a thought right now as she made her way into her room. Avery closed the door softly behind her as she slumped to the floor, the anxiety seems to get to her.

Later that night, when there was no more cleaning that could have possibly been done that wasn't already she was left with the idea of drinking her problems away. She had seen it in a few films that she had watched as a child, having had a sneaky sip of her mother's wine glass when she was 14. Avery knew which bottle tasted sweet, and that was the one she was going to take.

Avery stole a bottle of wine out of the liquor cabinet, her father lay asleep on the couch as she sneaked into her room with the bottle and a wine glass. Her steps were silent, as she held her breath until she was safe in the sanctuary of her room. Throughout the night whilst she studied Avery took sips of the wine and soon enough the bottle was empty and she was feeling tipsy as the alcohol was running through her system. Avery was on her computer looking at quantum mechanics when she stumbled upon a website on witchcraft, she was giggling loudly then remembered her father just downstairs.

She found a ritual to summon Lucifer and a thought crossed her mind, maybe if she became friends with Satan himself she wouldn't feel so lonely inside and maybe she'd get a friend. She didn't think it would actually work but at that moment Avery couldn't care any less, maybe tomorrow night she'd say a prayer to God see if he'd be her friend. She let out a soft laugh as she read the article on how to summon Satan, it took Avery a little longer to read than normal because of the alcohol causing her mind to fog over.

She says the words while staring into the burning smoking flame of a candle, the movement of the flame flickering aggressively before her room was consumed with darkness as a large figure manifested itself into her room relighting the candle. Avery let out a hiccuped burp as the 6ft figure towered over her. The figure let out a strangled noise frightening Avery, but she wouldn't back out now her alcohol-induced brain summoning an act of false courage, she felt dizzy.

She stumbled back a bit falling onto her bed, she was extremely dizzy now as black eyes met her brown ones. Quickly she looks away, her mind trying to sober up while she attempts to form a sentence. "What is the reason you have summoned the almighty fallen angel of hell? his voice was clear and filled with authority reminding Avery of her schools principal, she shook that thought from her mind.

"I-I want to s-sell my soul to you" even in her drunken state her shyness still breaks through, Lucifer was intrigued by this small human so he agreed to purchase her soul."B-but in exchange f-for a friend" her voice wobbled as she stared at the ground too intimidated to meet his eyes.

"You want one of my demons?" he was bewildered by her strange request, no one has ever made such requests. "N-no a friendship w-with you" she looks up at his eyes and only sees orbs darkness and fire, she gasps in surprise, "I don't see why not" he shrugs his shoulders "We'll grab a coffee sometime" and with that, he disappears in a puff of smoke.

Her shoulders sag in relief as the 6ft tall figure disintegrates into puffs of smoke and piles of ash, a sobering thought crossed her mind

She had asked Lucifer to be her friend and he had said yes
