The day for Avery Louis started as anyone else's day would, she woke up with drool down her chin, a birds nest of a hairstyle and she was already running late for school. Scrambling around her room she changed her clothes, hopping on one leg trying to put a sock on her foot; she slipped on the wood floor landing on a pile of her scattered clothing."Crap" she swore under her breath glancing at her wristwatch, grabbing her bag she ran out of her bedroom speeding past her father in the kitchen there was no time for even a quick breakfast and she began sprinting to school. She reached her school as the bell rang for first day classes to begin, lowering her head she walked into her class ignoring the laughter and stares of the people around her.
Not all of the laughter was towards her but that didn't stop Avery's mind from telling her otherwise, "they're all laughing at you, because you're such a loser" the voice in her head sneered, she looked around at her classmates seeing as none of them was looking at her she thought that maybe the voice was wrong, that was until a paper plane flew around and hit her head landing on her desk. "Just go and kill yourself" it read, Avery looked around trying to find who threw it at her but nobody was paying her any attention.
She paid no further attention to the note, just scrunching it into a ball letting it sit on the edge of her desk. Until she heard sniggering behind her, curiously she turned around to see two girls laughing at a meme with her face on it. "Haha she really does look like a monkey," one girl says before they notice Avery staring at them, and she hides her phone from view. "What are you looking at?" the other girl taunted causing Avery to shrink into herself, but she couldn't find a response only turning back in her seat paying attention for the rest of that class.
Avery let a small sigh of relief as the bell for the first break rang, quickly she packed her bag hoping to escape to her secret place before anyone could do or say something to her. As Avery was making her way out of class she didn't see the foot sick out from under a desk which caused her to trip and fall, laughter-filled her eardrums as the people around her began mocking and teasing her. Avery struggled to her feet keeping her head faced towards the ground, she rushed off hoping no one would see the tears that fell down her face.
She bumped into a tall figure mumbling her apologies her head towards the ground, the tall body puts their hand under her chin lifting her face to reveal the strangers smirking face. If Avery wasn't waiting for him to say something mean she would think he was kind of cute, "uhh" she doesn't finish her sentence as a cold liquid falls on her head, dripping down her back. The tall boy in front of her laughs, loud and booming along with the other bystanders watching.
She stands in shock unable to comprehend what had just happened, before her adrenaline kicks in and she finds her fist connected to the guys face and his nose was now bleeding and looking a little crooked. She watches his facial expression change from laughter to shock to now anger, it was then she decided to make a break for it and sprinted towards her next class hoping to God that it was unlocked and a teacher was present.
Thankfully her favourite teacher was inside eating his lunch while looking over some papers, she rushed in before closing the door and locking it just as the mass of angry-looking faces rounded the corner. Mr Staple didn't bother to look up, he gave her a nod before going back to his work. This is what Avery likes about Mr Staple, he was just so chill and calm about his students, as long as he wasn't disturbed she was free to stay in this classroom. She had no hopes of escaping to her secret sanctuary now, with the mass mob just waiting outside the classroom. Thank goodness she was in here for the rest of the interval and for the third-day class. Thank goodness that liquid was only water, she knows just how difficult it is to get smoothie stains out of clothes.
About twenty minutes had passed and the bell for class to begin had rung, she silently took out her book as the room filled with students. "You'll regret what you did earlier" a girl Avery hardly recognised hisses in her ear as she passed, Avery shivered slightly at her cold threat knowing full well she meant exactly what she said. That class went smoothly, but she could still feel the death stares burning through her back. Avery spent the last ten minutes of class thinking of a way to get to fourth-day classes safely, after figuring that making a break for it was her only option she mentally prepared herself to run through what she knows as no man's land.
When the bell finally went she was the first one through the door, sprinting down the hallway she ignored the yells from teachers to stop running in the hall and she mumbled quick apologies to all the people she bumped into. That was going well until a strong pair of arms caught and trapped her as she squirmed to escape. "Not so fast" a familiar voice murmured gruffly, Avery tried to escape his grasp as she noticed more people surrounding. She heard the bell indicating the start of fourth-day class, Avery knew she was screwed she'd be late to class ruining her once-perfect attendance and she'd be beaten to a pulp by the guy whose nose she broke earlier.
She sighed in defeat as she hung her head low as he dragged her away to a hidden area, she had never done anything like this before or even been caught but from the other kids that had left the school because of this she knew exactly what her outcome was, and it wasn't going to be pretty.
