Avery woke up the next morning with a hangover and a headache that made her room feel like it was spinning. She could barely remember what happened last night, as she stumbled down into the kitchen taking aspirin with a glass of water. Avery saw that her father was still fast asleep on the couch and she glanced at the clock, 6:34 am she still had time to get ready for school, but in this state, she didn't feel like going. Avery trudged back into her room, falling onto her bed enjoying the comfort for just a second before willing herself to get ready for school.

Avery stepped into the shower, letting the water wake up the last of her sleepy mind. She picked out a tidy outfit to wear and got dressed as she packed her bag when she finally looked at the clock it showed 7:15. She went back downstairs into the kitchen and was surprised to see her father at the kitchen table working, she just silently started to make breakfast. Placing the plate with toast and a cup of coffee she kissed his forehead and sat across from him, eyeing her father carefully to see if he actually was okay as his demeanour.

"Are you okay?" Avery asks slowly, as her father looks up towards her and he doesn't have to answer for Avery to know, she can see the dark bags under his eyes and his bloodshot eyes from all the tears he must have shed. "I can stay home if you'd like, so you don't need to be alone" her tone soft as she reaches out to hold his hands, and he shakes his head. "No you need to go to school, I know that you were removed from the scholarship list they called this morning"

Avery didn't know what to say, she just nodded her head before kissing her father's cheek and began walking to school. Mentally preparing herself for the name-calling from a certain female in her class, but when she reaches the school gates Avery notices immediately that something is different. She sees a crowd of people seeming to be circling someone, Avery watches the crowd of blushing, flirting girls and scowling guys for a second before going to class. She doesn't notice the crowd start to form around her and suddenly Avery is in the middle of a circle with a guy she doesn't recognize, but the guy gives her a devilish smirk.

"Hey Avery," he says smoothly it sounding faintly familiar to Avery but she swears she has never seen that guy before in her life. Avery's eyes widen like a deer caught in the headlights, her finger pointing to herself "m-me?" she stutters not liking so many eyes on her at once. "Yes Avery, you called me last night remember" his words come out more like a statement than a question, Avery notices a few girls give her a mean look and she wants to hideaway.

"S-sorry wrong person," she says quickly bowing her head before pushing past the crowd and running into the school building and into her first-day class. She sighs in relief as she takes her books out of her bag, her relief is short-lived as a slender hand slams on her desk. Avery's eyes move up the arm and to no surprise sees Atropos, with a scowl on her face. "Lucian is off-limits got it?" Avery nods her head looking now at her desk, not even knowing who this Lucian person is and also too intimidated to look into her eyes. "Good, and stop flirting with Thanatos his reputation shouldn't sink because of you"

Avery nods her head again, not even going to try and say that she doesn't choose to hang out with him. Satisfied with the response Atropos walk to her own desk, Avery lets out the breath she didn't realize that she was holding in. The rest of the class piled in as the bell rang and then the teacher walked in with the guy from that mob circle, the class becomes silent immediately all eyes drawn to the newcomer who only has his eyes set on Avery.

This causes her to blush before looking down at her work, but she can still feel his piercing dark eyes on her. The teacher does introductions and Avery hears his name "Lucian" and Avery knows that he is the guy she has to stay away from or face the wrath of Atropos. Her ears tune out before she suddenly hears her name being called, "Miss Luis please pay attention, especially when I am talking to you" the teacher reprimands her and Avery nods her head.

"As I have said twice already" her teacher giving Avery a pointed look, and which Avery smiles sheepishly. "Mr Cifer here has said that you are friends with him, so I am seating you together until he gets to know the rest of his classmates" Avery's mouth open as if to protest but she doesn't say anything only closing her mouth, too late now he's already sitting at the desk beside her with a smirk.

As the teacher began writing the work on the board Avery was finding it hard to concentrate. She could feel eyes on her, and it sent a shiver down her spine when a folded note was placed in front of her. Avery's fingers gingerly grab the note, her hands are shaking slightly. "You said you wanted a friend but you're ignoring me, why is that?" The note read but it left Avery more confused than ever, she had never agreed to be friends with Atropos.

Avery doesn't realize that the note is from Atropos the handwriting is scruffy nothing like her small cursive writing, it's only when the class is nearly over and Lucian's never-ending gaze on her that she realizes that the letter isn't from Atropos but in fact from the guy next to her.
