That night Avery locked and unlocked all of her doors and windows several times before the uneasy feeling finally went away, she quietly opened her dad's bedroom door and found him sound asleep. Avery crept back into her room, dropping her bag to the floor she fell onto her bed.

She physically felt drained but her mind was wide awake at all the different events that had occurred, her first-ever party, meeting her childhood best friend, getting a ride home from Lucian, being Locked out of her house. A whirlwind of activities happened today, a completely different turn of events from her usual day.

The wind outside her window suddenly picked up, the tree banging against the windowpane she could hear its howling; an eerie shiver travelled down her spine. "Has he left yet?" She thought to herself as the curious side of her crept to a window that revealed the front yard as she watches his car finally pull out of the driveway and drive away into the night.

Subconsciously her eyes went towards the burn mark now symbol on her inner wrist, the symbol seemed faintly familiar as she thinks back to when she took social studies. She grabs her laptop, quickly logging in and typing.

"Ancient symbols of Gods and their meaning" she whispers to herself hitting enter on the keyboard.

New tattoo on your arm you're unaware of? Heres what it means

10 signs you have been chosen to serve an ancient God

A new study shows Greek and Roman mythology is no longer a myth

So you've been marked by a God, what now?

Avery laughed in disbelief, obviously, none of this was real, just something her mind conjured up in an attempt to distract her from her real-life problems. rubbing at the mark on her arm "it's just marker" Avery tries to assure herself, only for the spot on her wrist to be worn and red and the symbol still there unscathed.

Going back to the results Avery clicks onto the second link, taking her to a website dedicated to myth debunking.

New tattoo on your arm you're unaware of? Here's what it means

Clearly you've either had, one hardcore night of partying that you blacked out and can't remember a single thing from that possibly amazing or terrible night or you've been claimed by a God.

This is something that has been left out of textbooks simply because the idea is so outrageous humans choose to believe that it isn't true but let me tell you as someone who is marked by a God, this tale is true.

She laughed in disbelief, shutting her laptop Avery huffed in annoyance her gaze, once again falling to her wrist "there's no way" she paused

"Thanatos" opening her laptop again Avery opened a new tab typing "Thanatos God" into the search bar, holding her breath as she hit enter.

Thanatos, in ancient Greek religion and mythology, the personification of death. Thanatos was the son of Nyx, the goddess of night, and the brother of Hypnos, the god of sleep. He appeared to humans to carry them off to the underworld when the time allotted to them by the Fates had expired.

Avery opened another tab, she typed "Atropos Goddess" hitting enter she waited for the search results to load onto the screen.

Atropos or Aisa (/ˈætrəpɒs/; Ancient Greek: Ἄτροπος "without turn"), in Greek mythology, was one of the three Moirai, goddesses of fate and destiny. Her Roman equivalent was Morta. Atropos was the oldest of the Three Fates, and was known as "the Inflexible One," or "inevitable.

Again, Avery scoffs in disbelief, she returns to the page about the tattoo continuing to read the blog post.

Since the beginning of humanity, Gods have chosen to mark humans as their own, whether as pets, servants, companionship on their lonely days on earth, perhaps their own chosen mates, yes like werewolves, soul mates yet this kind of marking is rare, the marking of humans itself has become a rarity with Gods choosing solace with each other rather than mankind.

Don't believe me?

Well look at the symbol marked upon you by a God, each God marks their chosen human(s) with a symbol specialised of their own, this is so that if another God chooses to mark that same human they cannot.

"Does that mean, Emma and Nami are marked?" taking out a notepad Avery writes down to ask them on Monday, away from the suspected group of 'Gods'

Still, think I'm crazy?

Well buckle up kiddos and let me tell you about the time I served Nyx the Goddess of Night.

I was marked when I was 10, an orphan in Greece roaming the streets and stealing from the local market stalls. An Aladin if you must put a label on it, at the time she looked like a normal lady only she seemed to glow with power and authority I can't explain how that looks or feels like but believe me it was truly magical. She asked me if I had a family, and I shook my head no she had a soft smile as she clasped her hands onto my shoulders. I shall be your family now, her face was kind and damn I didn't know then how much I had needed a family until she became my family. A while later I noticed two matching tattoos on both of my shoulders, I asked her about them and she said to me child they are there to protect you from evil. She took me to a secluded home close to the river and hidden from view with the guarded shields of the surrounding trees, this will be your home for when I can not be with you, my child. And that is where I lived she would come and see me in the day and disappear just before the sun would set. Only now that I am old I learned of what she is.

Avery closed all of her tabs and shut off her laptop, all of this a lot to take in. Perhaps she was delusional, it had been a long day and night the time now being 3:05 am. Being tired she left it for the time being choosing to sleep instead of overthinking herself into further exhaustion.
