The party ended around midnight, most of the rowdy people had left continuing their festivities at a nearby club. Everyone else remaining was either passed out on the floor or sober and just chatting, that included Avery, Nami, Emma, Nike, Jurojin and Lucian who silently appeared sometime during their third game of poker.
At first, everyone was silent when he showed up they seemed to be tense around him but for some reason, Avery felt comfortable when he was beside her, a completely different feeling if it were to be Thanatos beside her. Eventually, they carried on playing and joking around.
By their 20th game Avery realised what time it was and she rushed out of her seat in a panic, "my dad must be worried it's so late and I didn't tell him I was going to a party" Avery mumbles over and over while everyone just stares at her.
"Relax I can take you home now" Lucian offered and Avery nodded quickly, getting up and thanking everyone at the table for a fun night.
"Can I come over to your house later sometime to get my bag?" Avery asks Emma who nods in reply.
The car ride was a silent one, Lucian had his radio turned off and Avery was a little too uncomfortable to say anything. After a while she appreciated the silence, it was a calming feeling Avery had been desperately clinging too when the news about her mother became all too real.
"You good?" Lucian asks glancing at Avery every so often.
She nods her head, her mind in such a mess trying to form words would probably make her stutter sentences and embarrass herself further.
He sighs softly before pulling the car into her driveway, the sound of the engines sudden stop brought Avery back to her sense as she unbuckled her seatbelt.
"Thank you for the ride" she spoke softly opening the car door, only for a quick arm to reach across her and pull it back shut.
"Oh um" she yelped feeling his body leaning in close to her own from across the gear shift. His breath was a mix of mint and alcohol, two things that don't seem like they would go together but oddly it did.
"You're not good," he says looking at Avery. He opened the door sooner than Avery had found herself leaning against in an attempt to distance her body from his.
"T-thanks again for the ride" she mumbles quickly getting out of the car and closing the door behind her.
"I'll pick you up Monday morning" he flashes her a devilish grin before backing out of the driveway, it was only once his car was out of sight did Avery let out a breath she didn't realise she was holding in.
"School is literally two streets away from my house" she huffs to herself,
She mutters a string curse words realising that her house keys are in her bag, and she didn't want to wake her father for the fear of getting in trouble for being home so late. Avery sighed before quickly thinking of a way to get into the house without waking her father of the neighbours who might call the police about an intruder.
She shuddered a little, the feeling of somebody watching her suddenly creeping into her mind as she looked behind her squinting into the pitch black of night. Avery shook her head hoping to calm her nerves over something that might just be a neighbourhood cat, "I need to buy a phone" she grumbles softly sneaking through the back gate into her backyard.
The backlight flicks on as it senses a movement and Avery freezes thinking she got caught sneaking in so late, "I really need that phone, or a spare key that's hidden somewhere" she whispers to herself completely unaware of the figure sitting in a car parked in her driveway.
Lost in her own train of thoughts Avery doesn't hear the sound of the door closing as the hidden figure walks towards her, it's only when she hears the leaves crunch under his boots does she realizes that someone is there.
"Who's there-" Avery says loudly before a hand clamps over her mouth and holds her body against theirs,
"Be quiet if you want to live" an eerily familiar voice whispers into her ear her body shivers and Avery isn't sure if it's the cold wind or the stranger who just dropped her off and is now back, seemingly willing to threaten to kill her.
Thinking fast Avery stamps on his foot with her own hoping it would hurt just enough so that she could escape his firm grasp, however, what Avery didn't know was that the guy holding her was no average person but a powerful being so strong nothing a mere mortal could do to hurt him.
"Shhh I will let you go just don't scream" he whispers glancing back at the bag he dropped just before he grabbed her, Avery nods her head as Lucian slowly pulls his hand away from her mouth and as she quickly steps away from him.
"Here" he mumbles grabbing her bag and dropping it at her feet,
"Emma texted me to pick it up from her place just in case you were locked out" he snickers a little because Emma was right, Avery was locked out and trying to break into her own house.
"Oh, thanks" Avery mumbles slightly embarrassed being caught like that especially by a guy she barely knows she felt her cheeks warm knowing well enough her face is red, she quickly tries to grab the house keys from inside her bag, feeling a pair eyes on her sent an unwelcomed swarm of butterflies in the pit of her stomach.
"I'll just wait till you get inside, then I'll go, so I know you're safe" he states and Avery nods.
