Chapter Nine

Theo POV:

"Shai?" I call into the garden.
I walk out to the garden.
I see blood on the path.
"Oh my god. Shailene?!" I yell.
I look in the garden and she isn't there.
I search every room in the house and she isn't in one.
I call her phone. No answer. I call it again. And again no answer.
I call Zoë.
"Hello?" She answers.
"Is Shailene with you?"
"No why?"
"I've been looking for her and calling her."
"I'll be right over. Meanwhile, call the police and keep call her."
"Alright."
I hang up.

Shailene POV:

Derrick walks in with strawberries.
"Here." He says handing them to me.
I look from the bowl to him.
I turn away and look at the ground.
"Shailene, you have to eat. If you don't, I don't think it will be a great outcome for the babies." Derrick says.
"If you don't kill them first." I say with a tears sliding down my face.

"Shai. I--"
"Just leave me alone."
Ruth walks in.
"Do... or Die?" She asks.
I look the ground.
"Changed my mind. I think I'm giving you twelve hours."
She smiles sweetly and walks out.
"I hate you. I hate you, Derrick." I say.
"I- I wasn't apart of this plan. And. Look at me Shailene. Look at me." Derrick says.
I look into his vibrant blue eyes.
"I just wanted you. I just wanted to be with you, to love you, to take of you." Derrick says.
"By taking me away from Theo, by forcing me to choose between Theo and my babies! You're just as bad as her. And I hate you for it. You said you had changed. You show up into my life one time and you screw everything up! And thanks to you in twelve more hours. My babies and I will be dead or Ruth gets Theo. And who do you get, Derrick, who?"
"You."
"No Derrick. You get no one because I will never ever love you. I hate you and I always will. You say your a good person but you're willing to kill me. Ruth promised you would get me. But how do you do that if I'm dead and gone."
Derrick's eyes widen.
