Chapter Thirty-Three

Theo's POV:

I run into Tanner's house.

"I can't find the boys!" he yells.

"You can't what!?"

"Shailene's going to kill me."

"She just went through labor, I might have to kill you for her!"

He runs his hands through his hair.

"The last thing I remember is me getting hit in the head and everything went black."

"Whatever you do, you cannot tell Shai. She's calm and collective but she just went through pregnancy and she is just waiting to go crazy," I say.

"She's going to--"

"Shut up and think!"

"Okay, okay!"

He thinks for a bit. 

"I don't know!" he yells.

"You are the complete opposite of Shai." 

"I know!"

"DERRICK!"

"Huh?"

"He said something to Shai. During Christmas, I was off in Australia."

Tanner freaks out.

"Get a hold of yourself! You are going to take care of Shailene while I'm looking for the boys! Got it?" I say.

"Yes, sir," he squeaks.

"Now to the hospital!"

Shailene's POV:

The door burst open.

"Theo?"

It's not him it's my brother Tanner.

"Hey, I... came to check on the baby," he says. "Boy or girl?"

"Girl. Where's Theo? Where are the boys?"

"Theo is Out."

"Out where?"

"Out in the world."

"Why?"

"He's looking."

"For?"

"His...shoe. He just, you know, lost it."

"What about the boys?"

"Y'know. On an adventure."

"Yea, sure."

I groan frustratedly.

"Can I use your phone?" I ask.

"Where's yours?"

"I left it, y'know, home when I was giving birth."

"Let me hold the baby."

He hands me his phone and I hand him Thalia.

I dial Theo's number.

It rings several times and he answers.

"Tanner! I'm looking for my sons who were kidnapped. So if you want to keep you head, I suggest you distract my wife until I can get them!" Theo exclaims in his American accent.

"WHAT?!"

"Shai! Oh." His British accent returns.

"My children are what?!"

"Uhm... Shai-- I'm-- tunnel-- bye!"

The line goes dead.

"Ugh the stupid I'm in a tunnel trick. Tanner!"

He looks at me.

"Sorry Shai. But... it was unfair advantage."

I glare at him.

Now I am too worried to go to sleep.

I lay on my hospital feeling more worried than ever.

Theo POV:

Great... Shai is going to kill me.

I pull out my phone and call Ruth.

"Ruth this is between me and you and not my children," I say when she answers.

"Fine. Come and get them, sweetie."

"Where are you?"

"The one place you haven't checked in a long house."

"Your L.A. house?"

"There you go, Einstein."

"Let me talk to kids."

"Fine."

I hear Brent's little voice. "Daddy, we're scared." 

"It's okay. I'm coming for you. Everything will be okay," I say trying to soothe them.

I can assume Ruth snatches the phone from his hand.

"Yea but when you do you better make sure Shai is not in harm's way."

I hang up.

She is not getting my Shai.

Ugh.

I'm literally going no where in life. I'm a bad person and you guys are literally the best people ever.
