Shailene POV:
Theo, the twins, and I are at the airport.
"I can call it off if you don't want to go through with. With a snap of my fingers," Theo says.
He snaps his fingers.
I laugh.
"Just like that?" I ask.
"Just like that," he confirms.
I smile holding back tears.
You know the saying, "Smile to keep from crying?"
Well take that literal.
"Mama," Brent says as Ian says, "Da-ee."
My eyes tear up.
"They just said their first words," I say.
Theo kisses the boys on the forehead.
Then he kisses me on the lips.
It's long and slow.
We pull away.
Tears slipping down my face.
He hugs the boys and me.
"It's just seven months, I'll be back before you know it," he says.
I chuckle as the tears continue to slide down my face.
"First-Class Passengers for plane 51A, please board the plane."
I look at Theo.
"Hello Theodore," I say.
He's confused at first but he catches on.
"Hello Shailene," he says.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
He kisses my forehead.
He begins walking away.
I have more tears falling down my face.
He turns around and waves to me and I do the same.
I watch him leave.
I hold back my tears.
I buckle the boys in their car seats and get in the passenger seat of my car as Ansel sits in the driver seat.
We pull up to my driveway.
The boys are asleep so I put them in their beds.
I lay on the couch crying until I cry myself to sleep.
----
My eyes open as I hear the phone ringing.
I answer it.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Hey Shai. I know it's like really early over there. But I wanted to tell you good morning," he says.
"Theo it's really late in Australia."
"I know but I'd overlook anything for you."
A lump grows in my throat.
"Good morning, Shai," he says.
"Good night, Theo," I say.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
Tears pour down my face and I hang up.----
