That's how you left me

Chapter 8

Avery's P.O.V. 

I woke up around 10:00 that night and went to use the bathroom and then i walked to the store and got me a water. 

"avery?" i heard a voice

i turned around to see Josh "what are you doing here?" i asked

"good to see you too" he said 

"i didnt mean it like that. but i left this morning" i told him 

"you never called or texted me and i got worried bc you didnt answer me back and i miss you already" he said hugging me 

" okay. well uhm i had planned to stay with Riley tonight. but i guess if you are here we can leave" i said hugging him back

"no. I booked a hotel room, you can stay here if you want to"

"are you sure?" i asked him 

"yeah." he sounded mad

"are you mad?" i asked 

"no." with that he left

"well okay i take that as a yes" i said to myself as i walked back to Riley's room

"where did you go?" Riley was awake when i got back

"i went to get me some water. im sorry, did i wake you up?" i asked him sitting on the couch pulling out my laptop

"no. I woke up when i didnt feel you anymore and plus i had to go to the bathroom." he said "what are you doing?" 

"im gonna work on some homework." i said loggin into my laptop

"Av. what's wrong?" he asked sitting up. the covers fell down around his waist and he had no shirt on i noticed i was staring 

"nothing why" 

"something is wrong." he said tilting his head

"its nothing." i said not looking up

"tell me Avery." 

"Josh is here."

"Josh, like your boyfriend Josh?" he asked confused

"yeah..." i said 

"why is he here?" he asked

"to be honest. I have no clue. but he is mad at me."

"is he mad because you left?" 

"no. he is the one who bought me tickets to fly back here." i said looking up at Riley

"ohh."was all he said "come get back in bed." 

"i'm not sleepy. and i have homework that my teacher emailed me because i am missing this whole week"

"okay. well i'll stay up too."

"no Ri. get some rest."

"Av, ive been asleep for how many days? im not tired" he said flipping the channels 

It was currently 12:45 i am caught up on all of my work that i miss and have finished it all for this week so i do not have to worry about it. I turned off my laptop and put it back into my bag. I looked up to see Riley sleeping. I smiled seeing how peaceful and handsome he looked. I looked at my phone and saw where Josh had been calling me and texting me since i left this morning. I put my phone on the table and walked over to the bed and crawled into to bed next to Riley. He was laying on his back with his hands above his head and his legs making a 4. 

Riley's P.O.V. 

I felt Avery get into bed with me. I didn't open my eyes or look what time it was. i heard her turn off the Tv and the lap it was quiet and dark. I moved my arm so it was now under her neck around on her right side. i tilted my head towards hers, her hair smelled so good. I kissed her head.

"goodnight Av" i said but there was no answer. I guess she was already asleep. I drifted back to sleep

I woke up to a man standing by the door talking to Avery, i am guessing it is Josh. 

Avery's P.O.V.

i heard a knock on the door, i slid out of bed going to the door. I opened it to see Josh on the other side. 

"hey babe. How did you sleep?" he asked 

"well it was after 12:30 before i went to bed" i said "do you want to come in? he is sleeping."

"why did you not go to bed until after 12:30 lastnight? were you and Riley doing things?" he said walking in

"what the heck. no we were not doing anything. I was doining homework, while he was sleeping." i told him

"whatever. I do not believe you. we are done. I am goin back to NY you might as well stay here in your little small town because you will never make it." he said pushing me back 

Riley's P.O.V

I saw him push Avery. No guy lays a hand on her. I wanted to beat him up but i knew that i could not do anything because i was layin in bed crippled.

Avery walked over to the couch and sat down and started crying. She had her knees up to her chest and her head in her knees, her long hair fell over her arms that were holding her legs. I wish i could hurt him. I hate seeing her cry. She did not deserve what he did to her. He definitely does not deserve her, because she is kind, funny, caring, adventurous, strong, sweet, humble, down to earth girl that I started falling for a long time ago.

She got up and went into the bathroom I heard the water turn on in the shower then she came out in a towel to get her clothes. 

"oh my gosh. I thought you were sleep." she said holding the towel tighter

I covered my eyes "im sorry. i aint been up long tho." she walked over and got her bag and went running back into the bathroom. I laid there watching tv until i saw Avery's phone light up. I reached over and got it. Looking at it, both of her screen savers were of us when we were younger, her password is still the same as mine. 

  "i seriously can not believe you Avery. I thought you were different. I knew i was wrong- Josh

" i knew i had a bad feeling about sending you back home to visit- Josh

" maybe Riley's girlfriend was right. you are a skank-Josh

I was getting pissed off while reading these text message

"this is Riley. Avery and I did nothing last night, she has been my best friend for 17 years. You are her first boyfriend, and she loves you. She told her that she is so excited to meet your family because she is falling for you hard. You better fix things with her as soon as she gets back to NY. Let her have some time to think and be with her family while she is here but when she gets back you better fix things with her. She is an amazing person all around and if you cant see that then you don't need her.
