That's how you left me

Chapter 12

The next morning
   Avery's p.o.v.
     
When I got home last night, I went straight to my room changed clothes and went to bed. I didn't take off my makeup or wash my face or brush my teeth like I always do.
  I was so upset and i don't know why, I mean Riley and I are not dating. Do I have feelings for him? No I can't I have a boyfriend.
  "Oh gosh. I need to find my phone! I need to call josh. Oh no oh no oh no" I scrambled around looking for my phone.
   I had nothing from josh. No texts no missed calls nothing. That's strange I thought. So I texted him and told him I was safe at home with my family.
  I put my phone on the charger and went downstairs to see mom cooking breakfast. She was making a lot breakfast than normal.
       "Who's all coming to eat?" I asked sitting at the bar

     "Karen and all of them. Her kids and grandkids. And your brothers." She said flipping the eggs "oh and me Karen Haley and Ashley(Riley's other sister. Idk if that's her real name or not 🤷🏽‍♀️) are going out of town today so I kinda told them you could watch the kids."
     "YeH that's fine. I'm not doing anything today anyways. Uhm I'll be back" I said putting my shoes on. "I'm gonna run to the store and get a few things"
  Mom asked "can you get some more milk and bread please? Oh and The guys are all going with us except Riley. So I think he will be around if you need help"
     "Yes ma'am. Oh okay. Well I'm sure I can handle the kids on my own today." I said walking out the door.
    I saw Riley at his truck so I walked over.  " I'm sorry how I reacted last night. Let's just act like it never happened?" I said and he hugged me tight
    "I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have kissed her i don't even know her. And it never happened" he said
  "Hey I'm about to head to the store. I gotta keep the kiddos today you wanna ride with me?" I asked pulling my hoodie over my body
   "Yeah let go in my truck" he lifted me up into his truck. Yes I am a little shorter than him.... okay okay I'm 5'5 and he is 6'4. A bit of a difference.
  On the way to the store, it was like nothing ever happened. We listened to music and sang along loud like we used to do all the time.
   A slow song came on that I had never heard before and he grabbed my hand and sang it to me. So sweet. 
  Just then my phone started ringing. Riley turned the radio down and I looked at my phone, it was Josh.
A-hello?
J- hey Avery. Sorry I haven't called you. I've been busy with my family.
      A- it's okay. I've been pretty busy too.
J- what are you doing?
   A- I'm going to the store for a few things right now. I have to babysit today. What are you doing?
J- just hanging out with some old friends
He said just as I heard a girl say " Joshy come back"
A- uhm well I'm here so I've got to go bye
And I hung up. Not even close to the store but I didn't wanna hear nothing else.
  Riley looked at me confused " I think he's with another girl. Like with with"
   "He's not. If he was he's dumb for passing up a girl like you" he said patting my leg
    I softly smiled at him and looked out of the window wondering if he really was with someone else. I thought to myself, I'm not going to let it ruin my time with my family and friends this holiday season.
Riley put his hand on my hand rubbing it with his thumb as we pulled into the parking lot.
"You okay?" He asked parking
"Yeah! I'm fine. I'm not gonna let it bother me right now because I'm here to spend time with my family and friends so I'm not gonna let that ruin it. Let's go get some stuff. Haha I don't even know what I came to get. Just some stuff we can do and not be bored because it is WAYYY too cold to be outside". I said walking into the store.
"And it's supposed to start raining in a bit" he said grabbing a buggy. " get in"
I looked at him "what?!"
"Get in" he said pointing at the buggy
I just laughed
He said "no I'm serious get in"
He helped me into the buggy. I laughed as he pushed me down the isles.

He was throwing games and toys into the buggy. He helped me out as we were about to go to the food section.
There was an older couple watching us. The woman said " y'all are the cutest couple I have ever seen. My husband and I have been together 71 years. I hope y'all will have that many plus more together. Y'all are so cute."
I looked at Riley then back at the lady and said "thank you" with a soft smile.

We finished up getting more than we meant to and headed back to my house.

When we got back to my house, everyone had just arrived and getting ready to eat breakfast.

We all ate and talked and laughed for about an hour, then all the men left and the women were loading up to leave. I walked into the living room where Riley and Joe(his nephew) were sitting on the couch.

"do you know where they are all going?" i asked him

he looked at me and said "I have no clue where mom and the girls are going but the guys are going to Bass Pro, I was going to go with them but I had other things planned that were cancelled last minute"

everyone left so it was now just Me Riley Nancy Joe Mattie and Nate

I am sorry for any miss spelling and for the format being different, I have used my phone and my laptop which have different formats. I hope y'll are enjoying this story.
