Chapter 40

Avery's POV

The greens and my family are gathered together for Christmas and I didn't get Riley anything but I got everyone else something. Same as him

Riley and i didn't say anything to each other the whole time. I was trying to avoid it at all costs.

Caden got a phone call having to step outside leaving me alone on the couch eating.

Riley came and sat across from me. I just rolled my eyes

" Avery I'm so sorry I didn't mean to upset you lastnight. I'm really sorry please don't be mad at me" he begged.

I didn't say anything got him I just ate my food.

"Look you two. I don't know what's going on but this isn't you. Y'all have to stop this childish mess. You are both grown and you miss are about to be married. Y'all need to man and women up and talk to eachother!" Shelli said to us

I finished my plate and grabbed a blanket before walking  outside to where Caden was still on the phone. He was sitting on the outside couch. He patted a spot beside him gesturing for me to sit beside him. So I curled up to his side and covered us both up.

"Yes sir. AWSOME! Thank you so much. Yes sir you too" he said before hanging up.

He smiled at me with his white smile

"Well I may or may not be playing ball for The cowboys next fall..." he said

"What?!?" I jumped up in excitement

"That was the head coach he said he would love for me to be on his team. He wants me to come in may right after graduation to try out" he said

"Honey that's amazing. Oh I'm so proud of you" I said kissing him

Him pushing me over softly so I'm on my back and he's slightly on top if me kissing me.

I hear a throat clear looking up to see Riley standing there.

"Y'all uh y'all are wanted inside" he said walking away as if he is embarrassed.... I'm embarrassed kind of well no not really.

Caden told everyone the news and then we sat to open gifts.

After opening gifts my brother said him and Gracie were expecting and were planning on getting engaged next month.

Riley announced he is going on his own headlining tour this summer. Which makes me happy honestly. I know he is doing what he loves to do.

March 26th

Caden and I have been great. Like usual going back and forth from LA to TN.

Caden is supposed to be coming this weekend to stay with me before I get busy with work. The last time I saw Caden was February 28th, almost a whole month.

I was sitting on my bed watching The notebook when I got a text Caden💙

C- hey darlin I'm really sorry but I'm not going to make it this weekend. I have to stay and finish up some studying for my finals and coach is making me stay for workouts.

My heart shattered. I haven't seen him in a months and now it's going to be even longer. I mean I FaceTime or call him everyday but it's not the same. I want to hug him, kiss him.

A- oh.... Okay then

C- please don't be mad baby. I'm sorry! I can't help it
A-in not mad. Just upset. I'll see you when I see you next I guess

C- I love you!! Talk to you after while

A-I love you too

I sat there on my bed and started to cry. I missed him so much. This is the longest we have been apart
