That's how you left me

Chapter 11

We got all of our shopping done and headed home. We went to a few shops before we got groceries so it took us longer than expected. When we got to Riley's parents house, his truck was in the drive way. Casey called her mom as I hid so he didn't see me if he came out.

C- hey mom. Is Riley in the house? We just pulled up.
K- he's in the back yard grilling with dad. Y'all come in and hurry. Tell Avery to go to my bedroom. I will make sure he stays outside. Tell her to put her phone on silent and you or I can text her.
C-okay. Headed in with the bags of stuff.
We grabbed all the bags and headed inside. I took mine with me and put them in Casey's old room when I walked by to go hid in Karen's room.

I sat on her bed and put my phone on silent. I got a text from Riley.
R- HEY AV!! I made it home. Just wanna let you know I'm safe
A- that's good. Thank you for letting me know. What y'all got planned for tonight?
   R- well we are grilling out. I believe your family is coming over. I wish you were here. It would make my day.
   A- haha well I'm sorry. Hey look I've got to go. I'll talk to you later.

  I sat there for about 15 or 20 minutes when I got a text from Casey saying come to the kitchen.
   I got up and walked to the kitchen after I checked myself in the mirror. Everyone was here. All the boys and men were outside. I look out of the back door and saw Riley talking with my dad and playing with his nephew. I smiled as Karen asked me to help her take some stuff outside.
   I got the stuff and walked out behind her. When she opened the door Riley turned around and said
  "Momma let me help yo....."
  "AVERYYYY" he ran to me and hugged me making me drop the paper plates and box of forks and spoons. Now I know why she didn't give me anything breakable or food.
  "Hey Riley" I giggled as he stopped spinning me and put me back on my feet.
  "What are you doing here?" He asked
"Nice to see you too" as I leaned down to pick up the plates and box
"You know what I meant" he said leaning down to help me. His hand touched mine and I felt like I was shocked.
  I grabbed the stuff and jumped back up and walked to the table brushing it off " I've been here since early this morning. Casey came and got me, I wanted to surprise y'all"
  He hugged me again. "I'm so happy that you're home I've missed you so much"
  I laughed "Riley. It's only been 2 weeks"
"I know and I don't care. I missed you" he said flipping the burgers on the grill

After everyone ate.....
   We were all sitting around the fire, Riley got his guitar and started playing and singing.
   "This is a new song I wrote. It's call 'If I was'" (go look it up!)
He started strumming and looked right at me and winked. It was chilly outside so I was in a chair curled up in a blanket with my knees to my chest. Listening to his voice his I loved listening to him sing. I thought to myself.

  Everyone had left except Riley and a few of our friends. They were drinking, I wasn't. Until Riley asked me to try one sip.

     "Come on Av! Just one sip." He begged
I shook my head "no no no and no."
     "Just one for me please" he pleaded
"Fine just one." I took his beer can and took one little swig if it.
      I turned my nose up at it.
"That is DISGUSTING." I said to him as he laughed looking me in the eyes. He started to lean in as someone pulled up.

   A tall Skinny blonde headed girl got out of a nice looking truck. She was a bit tipsy already then she walked to the cooler and got 2 beers and downed them. all the guys were looking at her. I was over it so I walked in the house , Riley's house.

   "Hey Av" Nancy (Riley's Niece) said hugging my legs
    "Hey Nanc. Whatcha doing?" I asked looking at all of her toys
   "Me and mommy and pops are playing with my barbies. Wanna play with us?" She asked
  "Sure." I sat down and played with them for about an hour and then Nancy was going to bed.

    I went back outside to see Riley kissing that girl who's was GONE and I mean long gone. I cleared my throat and walked to the chair I was sitting in and grabbed my blanket walking towards my house.
   "Avery! Avery stop. Wait. Avery." Riley came chasing me
   I turned around "what Riley? What do you want?"
"Did you see that?" He asked
I laughed " yeah I saw it" then started to walk away
  "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Please hear me out! I didn't mean to kiss her. She's drunk and I'm almost there."
      I interrupted "so you kissed her  because she's drunk?"
   "No well ye no. Idk Avery. But I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking" he kept apologizing
     "Why are you apologizing to me? We aren't dating. We are just friends.  Now it's 11:00. I am sleepy and cold. I'm going to bed." I walked to my house. Leaving him standing there in the yard 

Riley's P.O.V.
What have I done. Gosh I'm so stupid. I thought to myself. I should have been kissing Avery not some random drunk girl. What wait stop what am I saying. Avery is my best friend. I'm not gonna kiss her and mess it up.
Everyone left and I sat by the fire thinking, it was about 12:00 a.m. I couldn't stop thinking about what I did.
