A Dilemma

We pretty quickly reach a place where there are two horses and a man dressed in black.

He is different from that the man from two days ago. Older and with a more commanding presence.

The horses might actually be ponies (smaller than normal horses). They have small blankets instead of saddles and one blanket has a two pocket hanging pack.

The man takes a half step forward and says "What terms were made?"

The girl stands with eyes closed and head down (just like how I found her in the forest) "I petitioned for help. She has offered to help."

I suppose I should have expected something like this. The girl has others to aid her cause. He strikes me as someone that is involved for some gain (either gain in the future or more immediate). He needs to know how others will affect his plans.

He is quite focused for tense seconds until he says to me "You take the girl with you on that horse."

I then blurt out "Ohh. That would be a terrible Idea. I do not have any experience in riding horses at all."

They both stare at me in varying expressions (suspicion, doubt, amusement, concern).

I nervously smile and brush a hand up the back of my head. I mean, what was I expecting?

I mean, what was I expecting?
