The mage continues

"I understand people can be private.

It is simply difficult for others to know about intent. An action meant for good and an action meant for gain, might have the outward appearance.

I want to cast a spell on you. I promise it is only to inform, and I will not cast other spells tonight."

He stands, so I stand as well.

He holds the staff in a hand and rubs the finger of his other hand across the back of that hand.

Immediately, I get sensations across my skin. Weak and pale. Something almost like the experience the dragon gave me on that first day. Touches like harsh fibers, chaotic in movement.

When he stops the spell, it persists in being unsettling.

I somehow have to get rid of it and discover that flexing muscles (isometric muscles against muscle) rids the sensation. From foot to arms, first pushing with muscles then pulling; the sensation to dispelled.

He lays the staff down and sits again. This time his hands are plainly open out at the knees. I take it as a peaceful pose.

"You do have good control to overcome the effect.

I want to say that there are many mages here and the majority can cast that spell at any distance.

If the rulers wanted, many mages could cast those spells over and over. All day, every day, by mages you would never see.

I want you to see this scar here. They drove a large blade her in my wrist held by a solid wood block. A large hilt to prevent me from pulling it out.

It was a test they gave me before they would let me travel to this continent.

Some people in pain thrash without an ability to control themselves. Some people pierced can handle the pain, but not the thought of being trapped so. Both of those will struggle and wound themselves more.

Knowing that you have limits and are not all powerful is something good to understand. Mages especially, very great disasters can be caused by a mage who had tender natures and hopes that were crushed.

I am not being mean to tell you than over months of continuous magic spell. Never sleeping. Your mind would become unsettled and easily made to think telling us everything was for the best.

We know of no human that is immune.

I am taking no action with you here. I am only trying to inform you.

Hoping you make a choice that eliminates unwanted actions in the future."
