End Of The Day

I spent a good part of the day running. Not hungry, or thirsty, or even tired at any time.

I was happy when they set up camp around sunset.

They and the horses drank water and ate 'pellets'. The pellets did not look intriguing. Travel food or trail mix never did impress me. I tried a few. Edible, but not anything more than that.

I got a blanket from them and followed them in laying it on the ground and sitting.

It was a wonderfully thick and inviting thing of soft woven wool (or wool of some other animal). It was clean looking for the most part.

I asked about biting and other blood drinking insects. I had not really seen anything like that at all.

They seemed oddly grim. The man replied in a formal boldness.

"If you mean the 'scourges'. Little insects that host to animals and sometimes bring sicknesses. Our continent has been only a risk once. The realms banded together and hemmed the animals in one forest at the sea. This was generations ago, but they set the forest afire. All the animals died in flames or in the sea. The scourge, now, only exists on the continent it came from."

Fire? And Drowning? I asked whether they could have tried dips on the animals.

I was expecting this to turn into a nice conversation, so I rolled over with my head towards them.

The effect was puzzling and immediate.

They looked at me. Looked at each other.

They Looked at me. Looked at each other.

They got up and walked away from the camp.

It looked like a conversation, but involved her flat clasped hands being enclosed by his.

They both came back. He sat and smiled at me. She walked behind me.

"Were you hoping for the company of this man tonight?"

I notice an odd sound, but I figure I should reply quickly "No. Nothing like that. At all."

I realize what sound is. The girl is crying. I am hearing the sounds "pish" "plosh".

The man stops smiling, but regains the calm composure he had earlier.

I ask her if there was something I had done to suggest the idea.

"You are laying in a certain pose right now."

I immediately changed position and tell them that the dragon told me about this.

I resolve to be very much more careful. The dragon gives good advice.

Walking around in bikini armor is not anything to blink at, but lying down to get a 'back sun tan' is over the top.
