How Things Are Done

As we all sit on blankets on nice pleasant day, the mage continues "I am from a difference continent than this one. I may be a good guide in helping you understand this culture since I also have an outsiders view."

The man in the group is what is known as an 'envoy'. The kind of person a ruler sends to tell someone a thing. Something the ruler feels is in his rights to do.

The damsel is what is known as a 'petitioner'. The kind of person that approaches to make requests. Mostly under the direct command of the ruler.

For the most part only rulers and foreigner deal in coin for exchange. Most other things are handled by exchanges of goods or labor.

The mage says that he comes from a culture with a frequent exchange of coin to live. Also, pausing and adding that he expects to be paid at the end of a service contract with the ruler of this realm.

Most others simply work to task and keep things running.

Balance has been kept by level-headed rulers and an enclave of warrior women. The warrior women occasionally taking disruptive rulers to task.

This simple life does pattern obligation over an exchange of coins. Each relationship of any kind sets up an expectation of some sort.

The next thing I will add might be tough to consider.

Each time you offer a service, if that service is taken by someone else (another ruler), it adds to the 'obligation'. The other ruler provides a greater amount in exchange.

If he wants something small, then the expectation is that you would give multiple services of less difficulty.

You should think about this and ask me any question you might have.

It is likely that they will exchange you from these two to me. That action increases the obligation you might have to the ruler of this realm.
