Three days later
Camila smiles as she helps Marley into the summer cabin. "I've made the room connected to the master bedroom the nursery."
"I can walk myself." Marley pulled her arm from Camila's. "I'm not helpless." She stepped away from Camila and made her way to the spare bedroom.
Sighing, Camila follows behind Marley. "What happened? We were fine on the ride here and now you're angry at me and pulling away."
"I'm not angry. I just don't like getting treated like I might break. It makes me feel useless." Marley responded, going into the spare room and closing the door. She wanted to be alone for a while.
Carrying Mason toward the master bedroom, Camila sits his carseat on the bed and lifts the baby into her arms, he was almost a month old.
She smiled at him. "You look like your mom."
Mason coos, his eyes widen as he sneezes before he grins.
Camila let out a laugh. "I love you."
Kicking his feet, Mason nuzzles Camila's chest.
Camila sighed. "Hungry?" She asked.
The baby pouts out his bottom lip and releases a soft whine.
Camila carried him out of the house and knocked on the spare room door. "Marley, he's hungry."
Marley slowly opens the door and looks at Camila. "I'm sorry." She says softly, taking Mason and pecking Camila's lips.
Camila frowned in confusion. "You're confusing me." She said.
"I don't mean to." Marley says softly, moving over to the bed and sitting down, moving Mason so she can pull her shirt up for him to nurse.
Camila leaned against the doorway. "Maybe this isn't right. I'm scared of hurting you." She said.
Marley hummed. "Maybe."
Camila leaned against the doorframe. "He looks like you."
Looking up, Marley frowns slightly. "I don't see it, I see more of you than me."
"He's got your smile and eyes and your hair." Camila said.
Marley shifts slightly as Mason begins to nurse, looking up at Camila. "Technically he's got our eyes and hair mama."
Camila took a deep breath.
"What's wrong?" Marley asks softly.
"Nothing." Camila shook her head.
Mason fell asleep while nursing, causing Marley to gently move him and fix her shirt. "Can I see the nursery?"
"Sure." Camila nodded, she led Marley to the nursery.
Marley's eyes widen as she looks around the room. "You did all this?"
Camila nodded. "I did."
Placing Mason in his crib, Marley turns around and moves over to Camila. "I love it." She says softly, wrapping her arms around Camila's neck.
Camila smiled softly. She pulled Marley's thin body close and wrapped her arms gently around her waist in a hug.
Curling into Camila, the younger girl looks into her eyes. "Mom texted me earlier to say her and Lucy would be by to drop off groceries and see Mason."
Camila swallowed. "Okay." She couldn't help but feel hurt that Lauren didn't text her.
"She said she tried calling you and texting but you never answered." Marley says softly.
