I was walking to the lot, as I usually do at this time. I was hoping I'd see Ponyboy or maybe Johnny. Johnny was the love of my life, He just didn't know it. To him, all I was was another buddy. I wished he would see me differently though.
"Hey Cass! I was hoping I'd find you here!" A voice I know to well said behind me. I turned around and smiled, tried not to blush.
"Hey Johnny! What's up?" I said, trying to stay cool. What's up?? Really?? That's all I could think of? He chuckled, oh know! Was I making it obvious that I was thinking about what I just said??
"I have a surprise!" He smirked.
"Johnny, I love surprises!!" I exclaimed! He laughed and then pulled me into a hug. My heart dropped. OMG IM HUGGING JOHNNY CADE!!!.
"Come on, the surprise is at the park" he said. We started walking, as the sun went down it started to get cold. "Hey cass, are you cold?" Johnny asked. I shook my head no but he didn't believe me. "Here take my jacket. You need it more than I do." He handed me his jean jacket. The only jacket I've ever seen him wear.

"Thanks Johnny. I didn't want to want to say anything but I was kinda cold." I said shyly. His jacket was warm, and had a faint smell of cigarette smoke.
"You can always tell me when your cold, or sad, or mad. You get the point. I hate seeing you uncomfortable." He stuttered. I smiled and looked at him. Our eyes met for a few seconds.
Omg are we gonna kiss?? I thought as we inched closer and closer.
"Hey greasers!!!" A voice behind us yelled. We both turned around and saw a group of guys hanging out the window of a mustang.
"You better leave us alone! I mean it!" I yelled back. The guys laughed and threw a empty bottle at us. It shattered just inches away. One of the socs got out of the car.
"What are you gonna do about it princess?" He grabbed my wrist and pulled me into him. I yelled and kicked him in the knee.
"Come on Johnny, let's make a run for it!" I grabbed Johnny and started running. We ran for a while until we couldn't see the headlights of the mustang.
"Where are we?" Johnny asked. I looked around, I've seen this place before.
"I know how to get back. Do you still want to go to the park?" I asked. He looked at me shyly and sighed.
"I guess the Socs ruined our night." He said sadly. I shook my head and hugged him.
"They didn't ruin a single thing, nothing could ruin this night." I said in a soft tone. He smiled, his black eyes lit with happiness.
"Let's go to the park then. I know your gonna love what I have planned." He blushed. It was the first time I've ever seen Johnny blush over a girl before. I grabbed his hand and started walking in the direction to the park. His hand was so warm, even if it was only 40 degrees outside. I never wanted to reach the park.
"Oh,Johnny!" I gushed. There was a big blanket out with a basket of all my favorite foods, strawberries, blueberries, twinkies, and root beers. Johnny smiled and guided me to the blanket.
"I couldn't decide on chocolate or vanilla ice cream so I got both" he said pulling two gallons out of a cooler. I could tell he was nervous, I should be the one that's stuttering and looking like fool. I was on a date with Johnny!! I was trying to hold back a squeal.
"Both are perfect. Any ice cream I love." I said sweetly.
"I guess we better start eating. I wanted to be here by sunset but the socs slowed us down." He said sadly. I looked at him and smiled.
"I don't care what time of the day it is. I would rather be here at 4am than anywhere else at sunset." I tossed a strawberry into the air and caught it gracefully in my mouth. Johnny stared at me shyly. I realized that Johnny felt the same way about me that I did him. We stared at each other until Johnny leaned in and kissed me. OOOOMMMMMGGGGG!!!! I screamed on the inside. The kiss felt like an eternity, though it wasn't long enough. Johnny smiled at me.
"I love you Cass, I have for a long time. Ever since the first day we met back at the drive in." He said. I blushed.
"I love you too JohnnyCake. I've loved you the minute I saw you." I said. Then pulled him back into a kiss. His lips were soft, it was the best kiss I've ever had.
We tossed strawberries and blueberries trying to catch them in our mouths for a while, until the sun started rising. My folks were probably worried sick, but they were the last thing on my mind.
"The gang is gonna flip when they find out we're together" I joked. Johnny laughed.
"Yeah, I think they saw it coming though. Ponys always trying to get you and I alone." He smirked. I nodded. It's true, The gang did ship me and Johnny. I always thought they were teasing me for liking him. But I guess they knew we loved each-other before we did!
