I took Hadley and Dung home around one in the morning. She fell asleep so I carried her as Dung and I walked.

"You know I'll hire a hit man and have you skinned alive if you hurt her, right?" he told me kicking the gravel in front of him.

I chuckled. "I'd never hurt her."

"Mhm..."

We walked the rest of the way in a slightly awkward silence and every now and then I'd look down at Hadley in my arms. She didn't weigh much but she wasn't too skinny to the point where it looked like she never ate. She had some curve and I liked that. Her arms were draped around my neck and sometimes she'd stir, purse her beautifully shaped lips, and squeeze me closer, causing me to crack a huge smile.

Ashton let us in when we arrived and Dung led me up to her bedroom. I'd never been up there in the few weeks we'd known each other and I was pretty curious. It blue and white everything, furniture, walls, bedding. She had giant stacks of books on her dresser, artwork here and there. It was messy, but I felt comfortable in it. People's bedrooms say a lot about them, and it amazed me how much I still didn't know about her; didn't know how much she obviously liked to read, or liked bands and movies until now. There was still so much we hadn't covered favorite songs, colors, awkward first kisses, first- any things. I didn't even know if she was a virgin, not that it mattered to me. I just wanted to know everything little thing about her. I set her down carefully on her bed and then turned to Dung.

"Do I- uh- you want me to walk you home?" I asked him.

"Nah, it's alright I was just gonna stay over here," he answered.

I cocked an eyebrow at him. "I don't know if I like that..."

"Ansel, I'm queer as a three dollar bill. You don't have anything to worry about. We sleep over at each other's houses all the time," he assured me.

"I still don't like it," I sighed. "Whatever, I trust both of you. Tell her to call me when she wakes up?"

He nodded and I started for the door.

"Ansel?" Hadley said in a dazed voice. I turned to face her. Her hair stuck up in random places and her top was pulled down so I could see her bra. I tried to ignore it; it was extremely difficult. I cleared my throat.

"Hey."

"Were you gonna leave?" she asked.

"Well, uh- yeah, do-"

"Stay," she stated.

Ashton hovered in the doorway. "Um- no Hadley, that's not happening," he said, glaring at me.

"Ash, c'mon, you know me. It's not like we're gonna fuck, at least not with Dung here," she laughed as my eyes grew wide.

"Yeah, definitely not happening," Ashton set a hand on my shoulder. Even though I was taller than he was, he still kind of scared me. He was Hadley's older brother; he'd obviously do anything to protect her. He definitely wouldn't hesitate to try to kick my ass.

"I would never do anything to disrespect her, Ashton," I told him.

"Yeah, right you're a guy-"

"C'mon Ashton after everything that happened; just let him stay," Dung interjected.

"Don't make me kick you out too," Ashton pointed a finger at him then looked at all of us. Hadley stuck out her lower lip. God, she looked hot when she did that.

Ashton threw his hands up. "Fine! I better not get blamed when Mom overhears your little orgy."

"Where is Mom? And Dad, did he leave? Was that the car noise I heard?" Hadley asked him.

"Mom locked herself in her room, and yeah, Dad left. But I'm sure he'll be back soon. Don't worry."

Hadley nodded her eyes trained on the floor.

"I love you, Hadley Rose," Ashton told her. I felt awkward just standing there.

"I love you too, thanks for everything you did tonight."

He nodded and left the room.

"So your middle name is Rose?" I asked sitting on the bed next to her. She nodded with a small smile.

"He uses my middle name when we have little heartfelt-brother-sister moments."

I smiled at her. "Where are we sleeping?" I turned to Dung.

"We usually sleep downstairs on the couch," he answered. "But I can take the bean bag chair, it's pretty fucking comfy."

"What about-"

Hadley laid down pulling her comforter with her. I looked at her and she patted the empty space in the bed next to her. It was a queen, so we'd both fit. I yanked my khaki shorts down my legs and was left in just my boxers and white tee shirt. Hadley kicked off her shorts and was left in just her band tee.

Holy shit.

I smiled down at her and lay down. She looked down at my feet that hung off the edge of the bed quite a bit and laughed. I laughed with her. Dung got some blankets from Hadley's closet and I tossed him a pillow as he cut the lights. The only sounds in the dark room were the soft hum of the fan and Hadley's breathing. I couldn't see her face, but I felt her reach for my arms. I let her grab them and wrap them around her waist. Her hair smelled of strawberries and her skin of lotion. Her skin was soft and as I held her, her pulse quickened. The little hairs on her arms raised and I smiled to myself. I didn't think about anything, she helped me forget it all; her problems, mine, everything. All I was focused on was our heartbeats slowly becoming in sync, how beautiful she was, and how hard I was falling for her.
