I was sick of feeling sorry for myself. So what if Mom was now a cheating lesbian, my dad left and my family was in pieces? I wanted to have fun. School would start in a few days and I hadn't really done anything this summer except hang out with Dung and Ansel. I'd been invited to a few parties but I only really liked a few people from school, so I didn't bother going. After breakfast (it was really 1 in the afternoon) I decided Ash, Ansel, Luke, and Dung and I were throwing our own party. It was now 7 in the evening. Mom still wasn't home from work, though she usually was around this time.

"I'm down," Luke said. "I'll text some people." I wasn't expecting a rager with tons of people and alcohol; but that's what I got. Luke's definition of 'some people' was apparently a hundred. He was a senior like Ash and Ansel so I knew some of the people but the greater portion was just people I'd heard of. Dung invited the entire sophomore basketball team along with some of his other friends, and Ash the senior team. It added up to about 200 people total. My house was big, but not that big. When I finally came downstairs from my room I had to literally shimmy in between people. Thank god I locked my room, I didn't trust these people. I had changed into a lace skirt, pink top and paisley cardigan. My hair was now a tad bit tamed, slightly curled at the ends and tucked behind my ears. I kept my makeup light with just mascara.

As I made my way into the kitchen to get a drink I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned my head slightly and pushed it off.

"Who the hell-"The person that stood before me was unanticipated to say the least. "Johnathan, hey."

He smiled down at me and handed me a red plastic cup. "Hey, I remembered this was your favorite."

I looked into the cup, Raspberry Ridicule wine was swirling around inside it. I remember mentioning that I had it to him, once.

"I don't really drink, but thanks," I said handing him the drink back.

"C'mon, I went to the trouble of making it for you. Loosen up a bit, Hads."

I glared at him. He needed to watch the way he was talking to me. But he was right; I did this to have fun. I took the drink back and downed it.

He and a few people around us cheered. "That's more like it! I'm gonna go talk to a few other people, see you later." He winked and drifted into the crowd. I spotted the back of Ansel's head a few feet in front of me and slipped in between people to get to him. Once I reached him I wrapped my arms around his waist and squeezed. He started then saw it was me.

"Hello, beautiful," he said pulling me in front of him.

"Oh my fuck," I muttered grinning up at him. My stomach did little flips as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I wasn't usually one for PDA (unless I was at a fair with a guy I didn't like trying to forget about the guy I did like) but for him I'd do anything.

"What?" he chuckled.

"You're so sweet that's what."

He grinned from ear to ear but I frowned. What in the name of Jesus was this god awful music my brother was playing?

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"This music sucks, come with me." Our fingers entwined as I yanked him through the crowd to where Ash was playing music on his new water speakers.

"Play some decent stuff, please," I begged him.

"Come on, this is decent," he argued with me.

"Pitbull is anything but decent, now change it."

He rolled his eyes but obeyed. Soon The Cab's Intoxicated began blasting through the speakers. I smiled. Much better.
