We arrived at the fair around 1:30. I was extra touchy with Jonathan, willing myself to forget about Ansel. I wrapped my arm around his waist and planted a kiss on his cheek as we walked toward the entrance. Admission wasn't much, but I swore to God if he didn't at least get me some cheese fries I was dumping him.

We wandered through the ride area, rode the Ferris wheel (we basically made out the entire time; he was being especially sloppy with kissing today), and got drinks. Right now we were sitting in a tent, me sipping Sprite out of a can and Jonathan slurping, and I mean SLURPING Dr. Pepper. Damn he was obnoxious. What had I even liked about him, before? I was a total dumb ass. Ansel wasn't obnoxious. Well maybe a little, but I liked it about him.

God dammit.

I grabbed Jonathan's hand and pulled him out of the tent.

"Where are we going?" he asked.

"I'm feeling... promiscuous." I winked at him.

"I don't know what that means, but okay." He grinned. Idiot.

I tugged him around the side of the Exposition Hall into a small alley. It was littered with trash and nobody had a reason to be in it; except teenagers looking for a place to hook up.

Okay, so I didn't actually know much about 'hooking up'. I obviously wasn't going to sleep with him in an alley at the fair, but I needed to forget Ansel. Maybe just a little making out and touching? God, I had no clue what I was doing.

Jonathan laughed. "What are we doing back here?"

"You know exactly what we're doing or about to do."

"Um..."

I rolled my eyes.

I placed a hand on his hip and began kissing his neck. He sighed. This really turns him on? I thought.

"Keep doing that," he said in a husky voice.

But I didn't want to. Frankly, I was bored and he wasn't going to be the only one getting something out of this. I moved my hand to the back of his head and pushed it to down so our lips touched. He had nice lips, not as nice as-

Stop.

I kissed him harder and he pushed me up against the wall. Ouch.

Whatever, if he liked being aggressive so be it.

We kissed for a few minutes, but we heard footsteps and he pulled away.

"There's another couple over there, should we get out of here?" he asked quietly.

"No, ignore them. I need this." I pressed our lips together again. He pulled away after a few seconds.

"Holy shit. It's that guy-"

"Huh? What guy?" I pushed him away from me. A few meters away stood a brunette, trampy looking. She was against the wall like I was; a tall, lean, muscular figure with golden brown hair towered over her, kissing her neck.

Fuck.

The figure turned.

"Ansel," I said.

I was beyond pissed, although I had no reason to be. Besides the fact that his date just happened to be here. He did this on purpose, I just knew it.

"Hadley." He said with a triumphant smile. I hated that beautiful smile.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

"On a date, same as you. How ya doin, buddy?" He looked at Jonathan.

"Good..."

"This is Alexa, my date."

Anger stirred in my stomach as I thought of bashing 'Alexa's' pretty face into the brick wall.

"Hi," she said. "Ansel, can we go get a slushy now?"

"Hold on, we should have a chat with our friends first."

She rolled her eyes. What a little fucking brat.

I turned to Jonathan. "I need to talk to Ansel about me watching his dogs this weekend for a sec, okay?"

"Sure, okay."

I grabbed Ansel's hand, flashing Alexa a grin as I tugged him into the building. A rush of conditioned air hit us as we walked inside. I shivered.

"You knew we were coming here, that's the only reason you're here, isn't it?"

"Why, someone seems to be getting a big head. Alexa is a great girl and I thought she'd have fun."

I immediately wanted to ask him where he met this girl, what he even knew about her, but I stopped myself. I couldn't let on that I cared about anything other than the fact that he ruined my and Jonathan's date.

"Cut the crap. Stop trying to depreciate my and Jonathan's relationship. I did have feelings, but they're- resolved now."

"Feelings? Hm, do elaborate on these feelings." His smile grew.

DAMMIT.

"You're killing me."

"No, seeing you making out with him was killing me. I wasn't really expecting that." His tone was dry and his face didn't show he was upset.

"What's your angle? What do you even want from me?"

"Nothing but a simple acknowledgment. And maybe a little something-"

"What do you mean; about the acknowledgment?"

"Acknowledge your feelings for me. In front of Jonathan. Admit to him, and yourself that you like me. You want me, I know you do. It's so easy just go out there and-"

"It's not easy! I don't want to hurt him!"

"You had no problem hurting me."

My lips parted. He was right, I was hurting him, and he was the one I actually cared about. Not Jonathan and all his imprudent, testosterone filled glory.

"You know what? Forget it." Ansel began to walk away. I grasped his bicep between my small fingers. His head turned to look at me, his golden eyes full of hope.

"I'm a coward. I'm sorry," I muttered.

He rolled his eyes and walked out of the building.
