I sealed the last box with tape and looked around my empty room. I remembered gripping Hadley's hand as she cried tears of joy when she found out she got into Ohio State, sitting in the corner where my Bon Jovi poster used to be.

Hadley and I had been through for a while. I guess the relationship had run it's course. She was always studying for some AP exam when I wanted to spend time with her and I was always at basketball practice when she wanted to spend time with me. Neither of us really ended it, just kind of drifted farther and farther away from each other. Man, I loved that girl. I bet I still would if I saw her again, I havent seen her in months. I guess our school was big enough that we never ran into each other. And maybe it was for the best.

After waiting a year to figure out what I wanted to do while Had was a junior, I was headed off to the University of Cincinnati. Had was now a senior, still going to our school. I needed to stop thinking about her. I called my friend, Nicole, who was a bit of a party animal.

"Hey, Nicki, Jensen's tonight?" Jensen's was the greatest fucking bar on this planet. They never carded and probably knew most of their customers were underage but we brought in so much business they didnt care. Nicole agreed to meet me, but I knew she'd show up with 10 other people. She always did.

I carried the last box downstairs and shoved into the trunk of my car which was crammed with 5 other boxes. I suddenly remembered Hadley in her underwear and one of my t-shirts, stoned off her ass, dancing to Fall Out Boy. For the longest time I didn't think I missed her. But that was obviously changing, which wasn't good. The memory was so vivid, that t-shirt from my old middle school that fit her almost perfectly, her hips swaying as Patrick Stumph sang 'Oh how the mighty fall in love.' Hard to believe that was over a year ago.

I pulled on a snap back from one of the boxes and hopped into the driver's seat of my car. With Hadley still lurking in my mind, I pulled out of the driveway of Peach's house and took off down the road.
