‘’I love Adele,’’ I told Megan. ‘‘Did you know that I’m, like, a third British?’’
‘’No, I didn’t,’’ she replied. ‘‘You love Adele because of that?’’
I frowned as the brush pulled at my hair. ‘’No. Just ‘cause she’s awesome.’’
Megan sighed and crooned, ‘‘Never mind, I’ll find someone like yooooouuu . . .’’ as she threw her shirt into the laundry.
I said, ‘‘Let’s go crash Erick and Shain’s party.’’
Megan frowned. ‘‘Don’t interrupt them. They’re falling in love.’’
I made a noise like pshaw and I opened the bedroom door, peaking in, seeing Shain and Erick kissing, and mouthing Oh my God to Megan. She tried to pull me back, but I peaked again, glimpsing Erick’s hand on Shain’s waist and Shain’s fist curled against his chest, kissing each other gently but passionately, eyes closed, lips moving in sync.
Megan yanked me from the door and closed it gently. ‘‘Leave them be,’’ she said.
I was smiling with glee. ‘‘They are the best couple in the world.’’
