Weeks passed and challengers stopped challenging me. Everyone looked at me in fear like I was a monster. The only ones who would still talk to me was Hope and Jessie, even couch stopped training me. He would say "sorry Drew, there's nothing else I can teach you." So instead I started experimenting with the gems I found on 50th floor. I call them my "projects", but in order to keep working on them I needed more gems so I had to find Diana's portal spell in my book. After I finally learned how to do that without blowing myself up I explored more floors but the deepest I can go is 50 sadly the spell won't take me any deeper and I've tried everything to make go further but I guess it has its limits. But the things I've found in the different floors is amazing I had to make a beastiary to keep track of all the creatures in them. But long story short my "projects" helped me purify the second floor without the other mages in the way. But that was a week ago, but all that is nothing compared to what happened today.
I was in the lunch room reading my spell tome when I hear.
"ANDREW! HOW DARE YOU GO TO THE SECOND FLOOR ON YOUR OWN"
I look behind me and see Chris stomping toward me.
"Who said it was me" I reply
"WHO ELSE LEAVES ASH AND SCORCH MARKS 50 FEET LONG" veins are popping out of his head.
"Um, a dragon?"
"THERE ARE NO DRAGONS IN THE LABYRINTH!" He screams
"Tell that to the colony on floor 27." I turn and walk away
"dragons on the 27th floor, how did you get down there?"
"we live in a world of magic and your asking that" I stare him down
"how, it took Jessie 3 months just to get to the 25th floor and she almost went insane" Chris tries to wrap his head around this new information.
" well how about I show you how I got so deep in the Labyrinth." I turn to the wall then back to Chris "um, your going to need this" I place a magic circle on his chest.
"is this your exploding one?" he glares at it
"no this one is to keep you warm and your head clear of dark thoughts" I turn back to the wall and wave my hands in a circular motion and the flaming portal forms.
" what floor is that?" he looks through it with fear
"17, its where the tomb of Rodrick the lightmolder is and also the location of the tome of light" I walk through and Chris follows.
We walk for a little while till I hear something hissing.
"Chris stop, were being followed" I wispier.
The hissing grows closer till the hideous creature comes into the light. A Naga, a monster of a beast, has the torso of a human female, a long pointed face and the lower half of a snake. Only problem is that they use swords covered in venom.
"Chris... run, NOW!" I yell as I shoot a blanket of fire at them "flaming blockade"
Chris and I run till we come across a chasm.
" how deep is that?" he spits down the chasm
"strait down to 47, but we need to cross this and get over there." I point to a hole not that far away. "we need to hurry, put these on" I reach into my bag and pull out some boots with yellow crystals attached.
"why"
"dude just put them on and run and jump" I slip on my pair and step back then run at full speed toward the chasm then lighting sparks from my boots and propels me across the gap.
"whoa" Chris puts his boots on and does the same "that was awesome, how did you make these."
"I'll teach you when we get out of here, come on this way" I walk foward
"so how deep does the Labyrinth go?" He questions
" no idea I can only go down to floor 50 with my spell"
"darn, that sucks" he says
"yeah... We're here" I stop and show him
The tunnel opens up into a chamber of floating lights, a stone coffin sits in the center of the room and a bearded spirit sitting on top of it.
"ah Andrew good to see you again, please tell me you brought me something to read, its so very boring and lonely down here."he looks at Chris and says"I don't know what the other masters where thinking when they wanted to be laid to rest in the Labyrinth, I just went with it to make them happy, um who are you" Chris is too shocked to answer
"I-I-I'm C-C-Chr..." is all he says
"I jest, of course I know whom you are. You are Chris Lux, Champion of Light, bane to the forces of darkness. Its about time you showed up. Um, Drew the books you promised."
"oh yeah, got them right here, Moby Dick, Where the Red Fern Grows, and Old Yeller" I pull out the books I promised to bring him.
"many thanks my boy" he says with glee "um back to the topic at hand, Chris I bestow apon you the Javelin of First Light and my Tome of Light, carry them with pride for you have earned the right to wield them."
"t-th-thank you, I will carry them with the greatest respect"he finally manages to say.
"Now I do believe you need to get going, and Drew thank you for the books" Rodrick says
I make the portal to Lavastone and we walk into the school.
"Hey Andrew I'm sorry for my temper. I just want to protect my friends from the darkness, especially Hope. I already lost her once and I don't want it to happen again to anyone, thank you for this experience." he holds up his tome and javelin.
"No problem just let me know when we're going to take floor 3" I hold up my hand and he grasps it to show his trust.
"you got it, just make sure you make more of these things, there awesome" he points to the boots.
"yeah been working on these for a while I've got tons"
"good they will come in handy, alright I got to go" he turns to leave
"see ya"
