Nobody to Somebody

Chapter 3: The Bet

"So what classes are you taking?" Billy asked as I looked at Kailey and Jacks got out from their Tesla. Kailey saw and smiled. I smiled back and waved. When we waved, Jack interrupted us and took Kailey into school.

What a coward.

"Peter!" Billy yelled.

"Huh? Sorry I was-"

"I know." he said in a boring tone.  Let's go inside to see if we have any classes together."

Billy has been my only REAL friend since freshman year. I saved him from a wedgie in the girls locker room. We've been friends since.

This was our senior year from River Hill Academy. Our last year before we enter the real world.

For the past years nothing has changed. Every year is the same. Go to school, work, do assignments, sleep, and the routine cycles.

I want something to be different this year. I want to make new friends and party like it's 1999.

"Hey Peter", said Jamal. "How was your summer?" "Could've been better. It was alright. How bout yours?"

"It was great! Arav and I went to Math camp for the summer and we won 1st place in the competition." Arav and Jamal are the geniuses in our school. Their class rank is in the 5% and their GPA is like a 5.0. Billy are frenemies with them. He's  is a jealous kid. He's nice to them when its time for homework and stuff. But when its time to acknowledge the students who works the butts off and gets good grades, he will do anything to be in the top.

"So what classes are you guys taking?" Arav asked.

"I'm taking 4 A.P. classes and 3 honors classes." Billy said.

Wow! I'm taking 5 A.P. classes and 4 D.E. classes (d.e means your taking classes in college by the way). Billy dropped his mouth and left to get his schedule.

I go to my first class, which was Chemistry. I sat down in the back and waited for class to start. The school bell rang and the teacher came in. He was tall, around in his early 50s, and had glasses on.

"Good morning students. My name is Mr. Garfield and I will be your chem teacher for the school year. You may only call myself by my last name and Mr.G. i am your teacher, not your best friend, your amigo, or any other language you guys call today. Alright! Everyone get a chemistry textbook from the counter and turn to page 15 so we can start the lesson. As you get the books I will call your name for attendance."

The class groaned and went up and picked up the books. Who the hell teaches a class on the first day of school? Usually, teachers lets us have a fun activity and other stuff.

While we were getting our books a girl came in and handed a slip to Mr.G. I realized who the person was by her voice.

It was Kailey.

"Well Miss. Kailey. Don't just stand there. Get a book and have a seat."

Kailey's best (fake) friend, Neveah pulled a seat from another kid and told the girl to sit somewhere else.

What a bitch.

Few hours passed, it was time for lunch. I was so glad I had 1st lunch. I don't know who would survive not eating till 3rd lunch.

"Peter!" a voice said.

I turned around and noticed that half of the popular kids had the same lunch period as me. Kailey, her gosh-awful boyfriend Jack, Alex the pervert, the plastic Neveah, the idiot Quinn (why is she even here? She should be in middle school) and a bunch of other athletes were there.

"Peter!" I looked at the other side of the cafeteria to see whose calling me. Great.

"Your in the same lunch period too?" No I'm 2nd lunch but came here instead. What kind of stupid question is that? "That's great!"

"Hey guys!" Jamal said as he and Arav came.

"Oh great there here", Billy mumbled.

"Lets go find a seat at a table before it gets packed up."

We sat down at a table and started talking. Well... I wasn't listening. I was too busy staring at Kailey.

"You know if you think your'e going to be friends with Kailey, that's never going to happen."

"Yeah", Arav said. "There's no way. I mean...... look at her and look at you." I looked down at my outfit. Then i look back at the popular table.

"Whats wrong with me?" "Nothing",he said. "But she's like a celebrity. And your'e..."

"A nobody" someone said. I turned around.

"What makes you say I'm a nobody Cotton?"

Cotton is a strong, fierce girl whose not afraid of anything. She mostly sells weed and other drugs in school. The school calls her the 'drug lord'.

"Nobody knows your name, people think your the new kid, and your pals with these genius. Lets face it P. You will NEVER be like them." She points the popular table. I stood up and looked into her in the eyes.

"Wanna bet?" Cotton laughs. "Do you really want the bet the person who always win?"

"I guess your winning streak will die soon."

Cotton had a straight face on me. "Fine. If I win,
you'll smoke every drug I own. And I'll take your car.

"If I win, I'll make sure you sell your drugs to everyone. Plus, a makeover for a month."

"Deal." We shake hands.

"You have till homecoming to be one if the popular's. Have fun."

Kailey went to the vending machine. It was the perfect time to talk to her. I went to meet her.

"Still not tired of that Dr. Pepper huh?" I asked.

Kailey laughed. "Nice to see you too Peter. How you been?"

"Could've been better. How are you doing?"

"Honestly, I'm tired of school and it just started. But I guess I'm okay."

"That's the most important thing. To be happy."

"That's what you always say when we were kids."

"Yeah. I guess what people do you know. Grow."

There was silence.

"Hey, I think your at my chem class ", I said.
"Yeah. I wanted to sit next to you but 
then Neveah came and you know..."

"I don't."

We laughed. " I miss us. Our three musketeers. Me, you, and Jack."

"If Jack wasn't such a stuck up snob, our friendship would've remain the same. But it didn't. If you miss being the three musketeers, why didn't you talk to Jack the situation."

Kailey created a sad face in front of me. But what I said was true. She should've talk to Jack but kept her mouth shut. 

"Hey Kails! Lets go!" Jack yelled. She turned her head around.

"Bye Peter. It was nice seeing you again."

As they left Alex came to me. "Beat it Parker. You don't belong here." He pointed to my table. "That's where you belong. Now be good dad and go buy a drink for your son." Alex left while laughing with his friends. I turn around to see the kids leaving.

The bet is on.

Wowzers!!! How did you guys like the ending? I think it was cool! Also did you guys like the new characters Arav, Jamal, Neveah, Quinn and Cotton. Most of them have secrets that are going to be revealed :)))))
