"Rachel, I'm pretty sure it's this way," my best friend said. I crossed my arms and looked at her. "What?"
"You can read right?"
She glared. "Yes."
"Good, then tell me what that sign says."
She sighed, and looked at the sign above our heads. "Gate B21, is that way," she pointed in the complete opposite direction of what she said.
I laughed and started pulling her that way.
"You didn't have to make a big deal about it."
I smiled. "Oh Mads.... Yes I did."
She laughed and shook her head.
"I can't believe we're leaving Australia," I sighed.
"I know. I want to stay forever."
"Me too." I felt my phone vibrate, and I groaned. "Seriously?"
"What?"
"I haven't gotten close to the gate and I already have a text."
"Who is it?"
"Um.." I pulled it out, but dropped it when I ran into somebody's side. "Oh, I'm sorry!" I apologized, trying to find the eyes of the person I ran into.
"Don't worry about it, babe." the green haired boy said.
"Really? I mean, it was my fault, I wasn't paying attention and I should've been," I finally said after staring at him. Not because he was weird or anything, but because I found him oddly attractive.
"It's fine, trust me," he smiled.
"Okay then.." I turned to walk towards my gate.
"Uh, wait!"
I turned back around and looked at him.
"You're American, right?"
"Yeah."
"So does that mean you're heading back there now?"
"Uh soon, if I ever make it to my gate.."
"Oh, sorry."
I nodded slowly, and started walking away again.
"I'm Michael, by the way!"
I smiled, and turned around. "Rachel. Nice meeting you."
"You too." God, his smile is perfection.
I smiled one more time and turned around. I glanced at Madi and she was smirking. "Don't."
"What?"
"You know what. Don't make this into something it isn't."
"Fine," she sighed.
I smiled and shook my head. Once we sat down in the waiting area of our gate, she kept tapping her foot. I knew she wanted to say something badly.
"Okay... Go ahead," I sighed.
"Oh my god! It was destiny! You had one of those airport moments that everyone wants to have! What if he's the one?"
"Okay, now you've officially gone insane."
"I have not! I saw the way you guys were looking at each other."
"We just met! I literally only know his first name."
"There was a connection, I saw it and I'm pretty sure the other three boys he's with saw it too!"
"Mads, regardless of what you thought you saw, it doesn't matter because he is obviously Australian and I'm leaving the country and going to my own. We'll probably never see each other again."
"I don't know... I really think you guys will find your way back to each other."
I stared at her.
"What?"
"You could not be happier that the biggest cliché ever made, happened to me, could you?"
"Definitely not," she laughed.
I rolled my eyes and laughed. I still have my own mixed feelings about it, but I know I'm super excited to be going back home.
