Madi's POV
"I think you should come over," Calum said.
"I don't think so, no."
"Why not?"
"You know Ashton doesn't want to see me."
"How would you know, you never see him."
"Because he doesn't want to see me! He said we were done and now I'm leaving it alone."
"But he didn't mean it."
"Obviously he did."
"Madi, come on. You guys definitely need to figure out where you went wrong."
I glanced over at Michael, who, like usual, was doing everything he could to avoid me. I don't understand why, but it's like he's afraid to hang out with me. "What do you think Mikey?" I asked him.
"Do whatever you think is best," he said, then left.
I frowned and looked back at Calum. "What's going on with him?"
"He's trying not to do anything that could potentially ruin everything he's worked for," Kaylee said, walking into the room.
"What's he working for?"
"A relationship with Rae again."
"How am I going to get in the way of that? I was trying to help it."
"You know she doesn't like how much you worry about Michael, and she thinks that you'll try something or something will happen."
"That's stupid."
"It's logical. You're always looking to him for advice or comfort, and she's all the way in LA where she can't do anything about it."
I rolled my eyes.
"Madi, seriously. What's the deal with you and Michael?"
"Nothing!"
"Honestly?"
"Yes, honestly. I thought he was my friend and I just wanted someone to be there for me."
"Rachel is still your friend, or was. I'm not too sure anymore."
"Like you said: she's in LA."
"Your phone doesn't work?" Kaylee elbowed Calum lightly and rolled her eyes. "I'm just saying."
"A phone works both ways, ya know."
"I know, but she's a little busy there."
"With Niall..." I mumbled.
She glared. "With her job."
"You honestly think that there's nothing going on between those two?"
"What would there be?"
"She could be cheating?" I said, not at all sounding convincing.
"I know she wouldn't do that. She really cares about Michael, and the last thing she would ever want is to hurt him."
"Still.."
"Just come talk to Ashton, please?" Calum begged.
I groaned. "Calum, he doesn't want to talk to me."
"I wouldn't be so sure."
My heart jumped at the familiar Aussie voice. I turned around and my breath caught.
"Hey," he smiled slightly.
"H-hi," I stuttered out.
He looked at Calum and Kaylee. "Could you give us a little bit?"
