Chapter 1- NPC

"Xi Qi! The team leader is calling for you. He asked for you to go into his office."

"Oh. Coming."

Xie Xi Qi grabbed a hair band and tied up his long, velvet black wavy hair into a bun, leaving some loose fringes which he brushed to the left side where he had a beauty mole under his deep-set obsidian eyes. His face was lean and handsome, with a rather fair and smooth complexion as he did not like tanning his skin dark. Most of his clothes were like bohemian style, just like what he was wearing. His long hazel brown coat was a vintage he found from the night market, his beige tee matching up with the sleazy blue jeans and sneakers. Xi Qi pushed up his glasses and stood up from his seat. He put aside the small red checkered blanket he used to cover on his lap in the cold, air conditioned office. On the staff's name tag hanging around his neck was written, "Xie Xi Qi, Senior Character Designer, year 20XX, M&J". Xi Qi walked to the office and knocked thrice. 

"Come in."

Xi Qi opened the door and stepped inside. He looked over the messy documents on the desk, at the bald 39 years old man in bleached white shirt with tight black pants who was looking at him. Every single time Xi Qi saw the shiny head of this man, he would remind himself to take good care of his hair. He surely doesn't want to be a baldy like him when he reached his age in seven years time. (Xie Xi Qi is 32 years old now)

"Xi Qi ah, come and sit here."

He took a seat opposite him. "Team leader Ze, do you have any instructions for me?"

"Ah, right. Xi Qi, the creative director said he want us to make some new designs for the coming TMO game expansion's update in half year's time. So we need some surveillance in the game. We've mostly finished our current projects, so could you do me a favor for the team to do the survey? You can choose any of the NPCs you like to use for surveillance purpose. Since we don't have any spare player characters."

"NPC's? Alright, since I'm already done with my work...can I use the game capsule in the lab?"
"Yes, sure."

Xie Xi Qi knocked on the lab door, and entered after the door clicked open.

"Mi Zhou, can you help me adjust the compatibility data and the character's data into the system for TMO? I've already got the permission from team leader Ze to use the capsule here."

The 28 years old woman with a red pony tailed hair whose name was Mi Li Zhou, but was nicknamed as Mi Zhou (rice & porridge), turned her chair around to look at Xi Qi. Her face was petite and cute, her white lab coat was wide open, showing out her blue chiffon dress and her long bared legs. Her high heels were right under her desk.

"Oh, it's Senior Xi Qi. What are you going to do with the game?"

"Team leader Ze asked me to do some surveillance in the game. And I'll be using one of the NPC's data for this."

"NPC's, huh.. Which one will you be using today? Sit on the couch first. I'll need to update your body physical data into the system first."

Mi Zhou passed a blue scanning bracelet to Xi Qi which he wore it on the wrist. He took it off ten minutes later. Xi Qi then gave her a usb drive.

"Well, I'll just use one of those characters that I designed. The village girl in Frelescka, Falma."

Mi Zhou clicked on the file on her computer. It showed a female young adult, wearing a white frilly shirt with a Gothic style skirt. Her hair was tied up in braids. 

"Oh, this girl is cute."

..........
"Wait-! Senior Xi Qi, don't tell me you're going to use this girl for surveillance? It's a girl! A female, you know?"

Mi Zhou had already turned around again, her hands acting up, grasping invisible melons in the air. Her scrumpled face was seriously funny to look at. Xi Qi nodded.

"I don't mind, either male or female characters, as long as they are useful. Besides, I only need to act as the character and follow the script lines. I'll be using the voice changing system too. I won't get found out."

"If it's like that, then alright...."

Fifteen minutes later....

*beep!

"Okay! It's ready for use now. Senior Xi Qi, you can get in the game capsule and start up the system. I've set it up for an hour, so you'll directly be ejected off from the game once the time is up."

He touched a switch and the capsule opened up from the top like a music box, but the interior was more like a comfy bed. Xie Xi Qi lied down on it and closed the capsule door. He fiddled with the screen above him as it lightened up. Xi Qi crossed his arms and waited for his mind to sync with the game system. And gradually lost his consciousness. When he opened his eyes, he had entered the game, The Morpheus Online (TMO).

His NPC's only had few lines as Falma is only a gem store clerk of level 25 Frelescka, a forest like place where players normally grind level 20-25 mobs; Chrysanthus, the man eating flowers, and Ryky, the forest goblins. 

While there weren't that many players online in the afternoon, Xi Qi only came across three players in the past 40 minutes. So he looked through some messages posted on the world chat.

{world}Yoona: kyaa~~my male god is back to challenge dungeon fastest speed ranking~♡♡♡
{world} LonelyMe20:Ace! Ace! Ace!
{world}JKarilyn: I'm at the dungeon too! Where did Ace go?>_<

Xie Xi Qi noticed five players coming, so he quickly closed off the chat screen, back to being a smiling Falma.

{nearby} Falma: "Welcome, how may I help you?"
{nearby} Morris: I've some task mission to do later. You guys coming?
{nearby} XiaoYi: no. I've still got an evening class to attend.
{nearby} KingAce: .....
{nearby} XeroMo: wassup?
{nearby}H2O: i'm going, Morris. Add me party.
{nearby} Morris: ok.
{nearby} KingAce: .....
{nearby} Morris: what's wrong with you, Ace?
{whisper to XeroMo} KingAce: i saw the NPC moving earlier.
{nearby} XeroMo: ???

The spiky silver haired warlord moved, circling around the Falma character. His black heavy sword strapped behind the warlord who was wearing a shiny black armor and black clothes, and the sword was making clinking sound to his armor as he approached. Xi Qi thought this KingAce was acting weird. Did he perhaps saw him when he was reading the chat screen?

{nearby} Falma: "Welcome, how can I help-"

KingAce suddenly swooped down to his knees and pulled up the skirt Falma was wearing, flashing the cute pink polka dots panties. His action stunned the other four players around, but what Falma did next almost made their eyes poked out from the sockets.

Xi Qi was stupefied for a moment when his skirt was being flashed, his surprise and angry emotions was shown clearly on Falma's face. Xi Qi raised his leg and roundhouse kicked KingAce away. Xi Qi rushed forward to KingAce and he continued to pummel the warlord character until his one hour time was finally up and ejected out of the game, leaving only a sentence that was clearly recorded on their chat screen.

{nearby} Falma: you damn pervert!
{nearby} XiaoYi: gahhh...!! Our Ace got KOed by an NPC!!
{nearby} Morris: !!!!
{nearby} H2O: err....?? Ace?
{nearby} XeroMo: are you sure that's really an NPC?
{nearby} KingAce: .....
KingAce was still lying on the ground, acting dead.

*all their conversations in game will be recorded as {nearby}. Including the NPCs'. Do note of this!
