.: Chapter Three - A Sick Joke :.

I decided to help them. I didn't really have anything to lose, except my uncle, but he was always working. I could always tell him that I was having a sleepover with Taz or something like that. It was weird that I was so old (22 years old, my birthday was in a few months), still stayed with my uncle and acted like I was still a teenager.

"Guys, I've decided that I'm going to help in whatever way I can; I don't know about Taz, though," I chimed. I needed to get back into my normal cheerful mood. Anyway, I was never one to be pessimistic.

Darren, Cray and Jae looked at me with a mixture of emotions. That probably meant that they thought that I was insane or mentally unstable. It was amusing, so I continued smiling to get a weirded out expression from each of them; I was such a nice person.

"I will help as well, Aura, if that is what you have decided that you will do," Taz announced.

"That is indeed what I've decided!" I practically shouted with elation as Taz chuckled, knowing exactly what I was doing, and the looks on the agents' faces started to become even more twisted with emotions and thoughts; they definitely thought I was crazy.

"Are you alright, Aura?" Jae asked, looking extremely concerned by my behavior.

"I'm quite alright, thanks."

"Okay, then. We'll brief you on what both of you have to do." Cray cut in.

Hahaha, we were going to be secret agents and they were going to 'brief' us; gosh, I'm immature.

"You'll be travelling back to 1990 to shut down TBE," Cray started.

"Wait, hold up. Isn't 1990 when the Internet was created? There would be heaps of hackers, later on, and you want us to stop the machine from being built, instead of leaving it for awhile to help you catch them?" I felt a little confused, but kind of happy that I was contributing something, even if it was just a fact.

"It's in the best interest of the President that the citizens are safe, even though the hackers would be a serious breach in security - there's already been a bigger breach in security in every country: TBE. Anyway, we could get you to give a note to the younger me when you're there.

"Continuing on, we need you to go, Aura, because you have DNA from your mother and father and TBE only takes commands from them - or anyone that has their DNA. Disable it and stop it from ever being created, again."

"Most of it sounds simple, but how are we going to do that - disable it? We don't have the technical knowledge to do that."

"You could always ask a relative," Cray said as if it was obvious to everyone.

"What? I can't do that... I'd be changing time - the past, present and future." I didn't tell him the real reason why I didn't want to ask my parents. I was afraid of seeing them, again. Would they even believe that I was their daughter? I wouldn't if someone told me that they were my kids from the future, but I guess it'd be different for them... They were scientists.

"You're already going to be changing time; you're going to make it a better place for everyone. More people are going to live because of you. Now, aren't you happy about that?"

"Sure, but-"

"But nothing. Let's all go to the weapons room, shall we?" All objections were lost as we followed Cray. My dissatisfaction was still there, though.

"Macy." Cray cleared his throat.

"Yes? Oh, hi, boss." Macy turned around, startled.

The person called called Macy had straight, Nutella coloured hair; stormy grey eyes that somehow looked friendly at the same time; she wore a tight-fitting charcoal grey shirt that she rolled up to her elbows, a black pencil skirt and black heels. Judging by her accent, I'd say that she was from India. She was beautiful. I was getting good at profiling people; maybe I was born to be a spy. Haha, sike!

I surveyed the whole room, scrutinising it from head to toe - or rather ceiling to floor. No clapping needed, just laughter. That joke wasn't lame at all. Something - someone - caught my eye. I spied a guy with a mop of jet black hair; he had a skinny frame that was somewhat emaciated, but muscular; his skin was pale like vanilla ice-cream; by the looks of it, he was not much older or younger than I was; his clothes were all black: a t-shirt that showed off his muscles, jean-like material trousers and footwear that imperceptibly looked like combat boots with buckles. He was leaning over a metal table - that was futuristic in style - and was deep in conversation with an older man. That man had mud - wet mud - brown hair; pretty fair skin; a tattoo on his triceps and biceps that was a roaring lion with a Latin word inscribed on the bottom: Animus; and a similar black outfit that consisted of a t-shirt that also showed of his muscles and cargo pants tucked into lace-up combat boots. So many people had brown hair, including me. It was amazing.

I knew who they were, so I shouted, "Eryx! Uncle Jex!" I was baffled with why they were here - maybe they were kidnapped, too...

They didn't respond; maybe they weren't Uncle Jex and Eryx... I probably made a huge fool of myself. I really didn't care if anyone in the room thought I was a complete retard, so I went up to them and opened my mouth to say something, but I was instantly cut off.

"Hello, Aura. We've been expecting you," both of them drawled in unison.

"Uh, guys, 'you alright?" I was getting a bit creeped out.

They turned around, ever so slowly and in unison, again. Their eyes were bright blue? What the heck happened to their eyes and them?! They started to walk towards me stiffly. I wasn't getting a bit creeped out, I WAS creeped out.

"W-What's happening?" I trembled.

Suddenly, the lights went off and the whole room turned pitch black. My heart started to beat - da-dum, da-dum, da-dum - at a record breaking speed. My hands started to sweat and they turned slippery like slime. I finally forced my legs to move, backing away slowly. What was happening? Why me? What did I do to deserve this? I prayed silently, hoping that I would come out of this alive. I turned around and I nearly fainted; there were four other sets of eyes the same electric blue that Eryx and Uncle Jex had, their owners were all closing in on me. I had never felt this scared in  my whole life, so scared that the adrenaline that was coursing through my body had started to make my limbs shake. Panic caved in and I could only think of one thing that could possibly save my life: screaming. So that's what I did, I opened my mouth and did a shrill, glass-breaking scream.

A hand flew to my mouth, covering it, so no noise would escape. I started to struggle and I thrashed the thing that was holding me captive. None of it seemed to have any effect on it. We started to move. The thing made me sit down with its hand still covering my mouth. I struggled even more, elbowing it in its stomach. Inwardly, I cringed and groaned - its stomach was made of steel and thanks to it, I had a throbbing elbow that was burning with acid on it. This time, I punched it with my other hand as hard as I could; it loosened its grip on me and I took that opportunity to run. I ran to where I thought the door was and felt my way around the area - I couldn't find an opening. Quickly, I resulted to banging on the door - or wherever I was - and yelled at the top of my voice, "Help! Let me out!"

Time dragged on, anticipation that those things were going to get me increased my fear and the dread. I was desperate to get out.

"Ahhh!" I screamed as I started to fall, almost hitting the ground.

"Aura, are you okay?" Jae was concerned and worried, again.

"No, not at all. There are six things inside with blue eyes that want to kill me!"

Jae put an arm around me, turned on the light and scolded, "I leave the room for five minutes and look what has happened, you've scared the poor girl. What do you have to say for yourselves?"

Taz, Cray, Darren, Eryx, Uncle Jex and Macy all burst out laughing. They didn't have blue eyes; I couldn't have imagined them.

"Relax, Aura. It was only a joke," assured Taz.

"Yes, a joke and a valuable lesson," Cray spluttered. "The robots of TBE would have electric blue eyes and they'll kill you. Consider this a sort of... simulation for you."

"Simulation my ass," I fumed. "This was a sick, sick joke. If any of you do something like this, again, I will no longer participate and help you in your mission."

"You wouldn't do that," Cray sneered.

"Try me."

With that, I walked back to my room, angry at all of them, except Jae.
